   HBCU College And Career Fair At Blake High School

Hillsborough County students in grades 9th-12th, and their families are invited to a Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) College and Career Fair. The event will be on Saturday, February 1, 2020, 10 a.m. – 1 p. m., in the Media Center at Howard W. Blake High School, 1701 No. Boulevard.
The Blake High School Counsel- ing Services Department and ad- ministration, in partnership with Gamma Theta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., will be hosting the event.
Ms. Leslie Reed, College and Career Counselor at Blake High, said they have received several con-
firmations from college, university, and technical school representa- tives, and as of this writing others are still coming in.
Among the confirmations re- ceived are: Grambling University, Bethune-Cookman University, Hillsborough Community College, Florida A&M University, Fort Valley State University, Shaw University, Tennessee State University, and Hillsborough Technical Colleges, among others.
Ms. Reed said the College Fair will cover scholarship programs during 2 sessions of scholarship/fi- nancial aid seminars; educational resources, and Military Academy in- formation.
Although it’s a free open event, participating colleges and universi-
ties are encouraging seniors to have completed several items in ad- vance: online applications, resi- dency forms, application fee/waiver, official high school tran- script, official ACT/SAT scores, let- ters of recommendation (if applicable) and personal essays (if aplicable).
