Suspect Sought In Fatal Shooting Near Tampa Park Apartments
Man Wanted For Murder Of 14-Year- Old Arrested
Tampa Police reported that a man was shot near the Tampa Park Apartments Sat- urday night and a suspect is being sought.
According to police, Je- remy Williams, 24, was shot near the intersection of Estelle Street and Scott Street. He was hospitalized in critical condition, and accord- ing to a family member, he was pronounced dead Sunday morning.
According to a witness, Williams was sitting on the porch of one of the units hanging out when he was shot. The witness said it was all a part of an ongoing dis- pute that has been going on for a long time.

A family member said Williams was a humble, quiet young man who enjoyed spending time with his daughter and other family members.
“This was the third time something has happened to him,” said his cousin, Clarence Jones.
“A few years ago, he was shot in the leg in a drive-by shooting, and a couple of months ago he was hit in the face with a brick.
“Jeremy practically grew up in Tampa Park where he lived with his grandmother. He maintained friendships with a lot of people in the complex, and would often re- turn just to visit.”
Gudes Funeral Home will be assisting the family at this time, and there will be a fish fry held on the corner of 7th Avenue and Scott Street to help raise funds.

Last week, Tampa Police is- sued an arrest warrant for a man in connection with the murder of a 14-year-old. The suspect was captured early Monday by members of the Tampa Police Department and the U. S. Marshal’s Office in the 8100 block of 9th Avenue.
Police said it will take sev- eral hours before Joseph Huggins will be booked into the Hillsborough County Jail.
According to the Tampa Po- lice Department, Richard Newton was attending a birthday party in the 8100 block of E. 9th Street on March 21st. At some point, a fight broke out and someone began firing shots.
Newton was struck by a bullet and died as a result of his injuries.

who fired the fatal shot.
A police spokesperson said the gathering was a birthday party and a memorial celebra- tion for 16-year-old Ikeem Boswell. Boswell who was fatally injured by gunfire on March 14th. His death has been ruled accidental and no
charges were filed.
Newton was a 7th grade
student at Van Buren Middle School. He was the 14th per- son to die this year in the city limits of Tampa as a result of gunfire.
Newton was also the first of two 14-year-olds killed by gunfire this year. Edward Harris was shot and killed on May 31st. His death is still under investigation. A third 14-year-old was shot, but sur- vived his injury.
No additional information was available at press time.
Former Jefferson Quarterback Suspended By Gators
Deiondre Porter, who led his Jefferson Dragon team to a 10-2 record as a three-year starter at quarter- back, was suspended indefi- nitely last week by the Florida Gators.
Porter, playing as a de- fensive back for the Gators, was suspended after his ar- rest on four charges and ac- cusations he held a gun to the head of his pregnant girl- friend and fired a shot in her direction.

According to authorities,
the woman told Gainesville Police she has been dating the 2014 Tampa Tribune Male Athlete of the Year since 2013 and she was 10- weeks pregnant. The victim told police Porter knew she was pregnant and accused her of having a relationship with one of his teammates.
Gators head football coach, Jim McElwain, said Porter is no longer a mem- ber of the team.
While at Jefferson, Porter led the state with 4,698 total yards and 53 touchdowns in 2013. After originally committing to the University of South Florida, Porter changed his mind, and has been a backup cor- nerback and a valuable spe- cial teams player.
Police said Porter is fac- ing charges of aggravated battery, firing a weapon into a vehicle or building, and ag- gravated assault with a deadly weapon without in- tent to kill. He was also charged with property dam- age.
Police said on September 29th, Porter’s girlfriend told them he arrived at her apartment and confronted her about dating one of his teammates. She reportedly went into the bedroom of the apartment, Porter followed, and allegedly produced a handgun and put it to her head.
During a search of the apartment, police said they found a bullet hole in the wall near the front door, and a .45 caliber casing was found under a chair in the living room.
Porter was contacted by police in Gainesville Septem- ber 30th as he rode in a vehi- cle with an unidentified man who had a .45 caliber hand- gun.
Suspects Sought In Burglary OF Market

Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies are asking for help in locating two sus- pects in the burglary of a university area market.
Deputies said two men entered MD Oriental Mar- ket, 1102 East Fowler, on October 9th at 9 p. m. after breaking through a concrete wall.
Deputies said the sus- pects took money before fleeing on foot.
One suspect is described as a Black male, 22-to-29 years old with a thin build and full beard. The second suspect also is between 22- and-29 years old, but has a medium build and may also have a beard.
