Panthers' Run At A Perfect Regular Season Ends In Atlanta
Miko Grimes Rips Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill
Miko Grimes, the wife of Miami Dolphins cornerback Brent Grimes, is no stranger to controversy.
In the past, Miko Grimes has used Twitter to rant about things including her husband not winning MVP honors at the Pro Bowl, his alleged mis- treatment by the Atlanta Fal- cons, what she sees as the NFL's greed and sexism, and her unhappiness with the New England Patriots for parting company with Vince Wil- fork.
She has also been a harsh critic of her husband's team- mate, Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill, on her local radio show.
Earlier this season, she was arrested on charges of battery on a police officer, resisting ar- rest and disorderly conduct outside of Sun Life Stadium before a Bills-Dolphins game. The charges were later dropped.
Miko Grimes was back at it Sunday, tweeting harsh crit- icism of Tannehill after the Dolphins lost 18-12 to the Colts. Her Twitter account has since been protected, but not before a number of media out- lets had captured her tweets.
"I knew this qb stunk the minute we signed to this team but I tried to keep quiet so I didn't discourage bae from be- lieving in his team," she tweeted.
Of Tannehill she also

tweeted: "I should've known we were gonna lose when I heard we didn't complete a single pass in two minute drills this week against the practice squad defense." She added: "My Column: how many people does Ryan Tan- nehill have to get fired before you realize he's the problem."
Miko Grimes also contin- ued her criticism of three local sportswriters, tweeting pro- fane comments about the Miami Herald's Adam Beasley and Armando Salguero and Andrew Abramson of the Palm Beach Post. She refers to the men as "the Triple A's." She also tweeted: "In conclusion ... the triple A's have an agenda. De- stroy the defense and make everything look like Tan- nehill is not the problem. #GotIt."
Famed Globetrotter, Meadowlark Lemon Dies
Meadowlark Lemon, a star with the Harlem Globe- trotters for nearly a quarter century, died on Sunday at the age of 83. He had dreamed of playing for the Globetrotters when he was growing up in the Jim Crow south and joined the team in 1954 after serving in the Army. He went on to ar- guably become its preeminent player, earning the moniker "the clown prince of basket- ball."
Created in the 1920s, the Globetrotters provided one of the few opportunities for African American men who wanted to play professional basketball. Wilt Chamber- lain, one of the greatest bas- ketball players of all time, spent one year with the team before joining the N.B.A. in 1959.
Lemon was an elite ath- lete. He thrilled audiences with his long hook shots and ball- handling skills. But he and the Globetrotters emphasized their comedic side as well. Lemon would throw buckets of confetti on unsuspecting ref- erees and fake injuries, among other gags. Lemon left the Globetrotters in 1978 over a contract dispute and subse-

quently formed his own travel- ing teams, including Mead- owlark Lemon's Bucketeers and Meadowlark Lemon's Harlem All-Stars. His likeness also appeared on the cartoon series Scooby Doo. Lemon continued playing until he was in his 70s.
Lemon was inducted in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2003.

ATLANTA -- The Carolina Panthers’ run at a perfect regu- lar season ended with a far- from-perfect effort.
They gave up too many big plays, the biggest being a 70- yard touchdown to Julio Jones in the second half. They didn’t make enough plays, drop- ping first-down passes like the one to tight end Greg Olsen with just under seven minutes to go.
Quarterback Cam Newton struggled throughout. He was throwing high during warm-ups and it continued in the game.
Newton finished with a passer rating of 69.0 after throwing five touchdown passes in three of his last five games.
Newton was 0-for-7 on third and fourth downs. It was the first time in his career he failed to complete a third-down pass.
Matt Barnes Banned Two Games After Confrontation At Ex-Wife's House
Memphis Grizzlies guard Matt Barnes has been sus- pended two games for his role in a confrontation with New York Knicks coach Derek Fisher earlier this year, the NBA announced Monday.
The suspension begins Tuesday when the Grizzlies face the Miami Heat. Barnes also won't be eligible to play Saturday at the Utah Jazz.
Fisher and Barnes were involved in a physical alterca- tion in Los Angeles on Oct. 3 during a party at the home of Barnes' ex-wife. On that night, Barnes told ESPN's Ramona Shelburne that he went to Gloria Govan's home to check on his 6-year- old twin sons after receiving text messages and using Face- Time with his sons and sens- ing they were uncomfortable. Barnes said one of the twins told him that "Mommy's friend Derek is here."

utes from his family in Re- dondo Beach, California. He drove to the home, where the situation between Barnes, Fisher and Govan escalated and a physical altercation re- portedly took place. Police were called, though no charges were filed.
The NBA said its investiga- tion of the incident is closed, so no punishment is expected for Fisher.
