Two Men Killed; Two Seriously Hurt In Ybor Shooting

Police are investigating a shooting that left two men dead and two others with se- rious injuries. The shooting took place in Ybor City near the intersection of 7th Avenue and E. 20th Street.
According to the Tampa Police Department, officers were dispatched to the loca- tion in reference to a shoot- ing involving several victims. When they arrived, they dis- covered four men had been struck by gunfire.
Tampa Fire Rescue re- sponded and administered first aid before transporting all of the victims to local hos- pitals. Two of the men, ages 29 and 43, died as a result of their injuries. The two other

After receiving a 9-1-1 call in reference to a shooting, deputies were sent to the Campus Court Mobile Home Park, Monday around 10:30 p.m. When they arrived at the scene, deputies located a man suffering from a gunshot wound.
The unidentified victim was transported to Advent Health, where he was pro- nounced deceased. Investiga- tors said an unidentified man shot the victim and went back into his home. An unidenti- fied woman and five children were inside the home at the time.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team and the Crisis Negotiation Team responded to the com- plex. After several hours of communicating, everyone ex- ited the home around 2:30 a.m., Tuesday, without any problems.
As the investigation con- tinued, detectives arrested 31- year-old Malcolm Hill and charged him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and being a felon in posses- sion of a handgun. He was

Sheriff Chad Chronis- ter, of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said, “I am so proud of the men and women who worked for hours overnight to bring this inci- dent to a peaceful resolution. “I want to urge anyone who may be suffering from any type of mental health is- sues to reach out for help. The holidays can be a difficult time, but you are not alone.”
Police have not released any additional information about the investigation.

After firing the shots, the
gunman fled the scene north- bound on N. 20th Street. He is
described as being between the ages of 25 and 35 years old, he has a thin build, weighs between 135 and 155 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, a dark-colored COVID-19 face mask, a black shirt and white sneakers.
Detectives said the inves- tigation is still in the early stage. However, the shooting does not appear to be ran- dom. The investigation con- tinues as they gather evidence.

Deputies discovered the bodies of two men in an apartment last Tuesday. They responded to the 200 block of Switchback Lane, in Val- rico, after a neighbor re- ported shots being fired.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office, the 9-1-1 call was received just before 9 p.m. When deputies arrived at the Val- rico Station Apartments, they located the bodies. No addi- tional information about the victims has been released.
Detectives obtained a search warrant and are con- tinuing their investigation.
