On Friday, July 14th, a Tampa native and member of the National Football League will host his annual back to school event. The event will take place at Dowdell Middle School, 1208 Wishing Well Way, Tampa, 33619, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
The “3rd Annual Ryan Davis Back To School Bash” is designated for children, ages 6-14 and their families in the community. During the event, youngsters will receive backpacks and school sup- plies, as well as many other giveaways, games and enter- tainment and food!
The theme for the event this year is “Tackling New Heights.”
Ryan Davis is an NFL player who has given back to the community since his en- trance into the league in 2012. He continues to return home to give back to a com- munity he has never forgot- ten. This year, Davis strives to contribute even more school supplies and opportu- nities to the families of the community. Through multi- ple generous donors, Davis is able to host this community event for the people of the community.
Davis said, “For me this was a no-brainer. I've always wanted to give back to my

community in a big way and push the importance of edu- cation while having some fun, and I also want to help those families in need by giving away backpacks filled with school supplies. In a world where it's so much negativity going on, I just want this event to be everybody's happy place, even if it's just for 3 hours.”
Davis attended the public schools of Hillsborough County. He graduated from Howard W. Blake High School. He enrolled at Bethune-Cookman Univer- sity, where he joined the foot- ball team.
Following graduation, he joined the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent in 2012. He is currently a member of the Buffalo Bills football team.
main hospitalized. No condi- tion reports were made avail- able at the request of their families.
All of the injured and dead men were burned by what is known as “molten slag,” a by- product of coal used in creat- ing electricity.
Officials said the slag gushed from a tank onto the workers as they attempted to unclog the tank. They further said it resembles lava from a
volcano and can reach a tem- perature of 1,000 degrees.
A spokesperson for TECO said, “Sadly confirming the death of Gaffin contractor Frank Lee Jones this evening, bringing the total to 4 deaths from the Big Bend incident about a week ago.”
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) continues its investi- gation into the deadly inci- dent.
