Tampa Native Completes Basic Training
Eastern Star Youth Group Named Council Of The Year
Recently, a young Tampa native completed all require- ments and graduated from basic military training. U. S. Army Private Henry Thomas Tillman, Jr., par- ticipated in a graduation cer- emony at Fort Benning, in Fort Benning, Georgia.
During the nine weeks of training, Private Tillman studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayo- net training, drill and cere- mony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map read- ing, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice sys- tem, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training

Private Tillman is the
son of Wadora Brown, grandson of Virginia John- son, and godson of Ross Anderson, all of Tampa.
He graduated from Stein- brenner High School in 2016. He will become a member of the Clergy in the U. S.
Army.
The Youth Grand Session of the Order of Eastern Star was held in Jacksonville June 10th. Lola Simon Chapter 33 (Tampa) Legacy of Light Star Light Youth Council Mentor- ing Group took first place in scrapbook competition, third place in drill competition and was named Council of the Year.
The group had a meet and greet Saturday, June 17, 2017 at the West Tampa Branch Li- brary from 11 a. m. - 1 p. m. They recognized fathers in ob- servance of Father's Day.

Veteran Reserve Officer Promoted To Sergeant Major
Recently, Charles A. Booth, Sr., was promoted to the rank of Sergeant Major in the U. S. Army Reserve.
Sgt. Major Booth is currently serving as First Ser- geant with Headquarters, 80th Training Command Re- serve Center, Va.
He has served in the mili- tary for 26 years.

Landover, MD, and Ethel
King, of District Heights, BOOTH, SR. MD. His cousin is Juanita
M. Hardy, of Stone Moun-
tain, GA. He is also the father
of Tatiana and Charles.
SGT. MAJOR CHARLES A.
High School, District Heights, MD. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in 2016 from Grantham University, Lenexa, Kansas.

East Tampa Outdoor Market
The next East Tampa Outdoor Market is planned for Sunday, July 23, 2017, 1-4 p. m.
The market will be set up at Alfred (Al) Barnes, Jr. Park, 2902 N. 32nd St. (at 21st Ave.). There will be back to school give- aways, however, parent or guardian must accompany each child in order for the child to receive a backpack.
