All About You
Park Village Reunion
In 1954, an area east of Downtown Tampa known as the Scrubbs, was razed, and Central Park Village was born.
The Tampa Housing Au- thority, in their push to create affordable housing and end public housing, had Central Park Village demolished, and in its place, Encore was born.
Some residents of Central Park decided that although the complex was gone, they should host annual reunions so everyone will have a chance to reunite and keep up with each other.
Former Central Park resi- dent, Jesse “Jet Set” Hud- son, started the reunion, and since his passing, the duties have fallen on Clarence Jones, also a former Central Park resident.
On May 11th at the Robert Saunders Library, Commu- nity Room B, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., a meeting will be held to get started putting together this year’s reunion event scheduled for June.
In an event they will remember the rest of their lives, Eunice Russ and Eddie Jackson ex- changed wedding vows at St. John Pro- gressive M. B. Church after Sunday service.
This year, the reunion will
be held at Perry Harvey Park,
and part of the festivities will
be a walk through memory
lane, with former residents

Also, this year’s reunion will be held in honor of Ms. Louella (Lou) Taylor and her entire family.
The support of the entire community is needed to make this event successful, and for more information, call (813) 502-0338.
