   Attorneys Honored During Diversity Membership Luncheon

On January 10th, mem- bers of the legal community gathered for the Hillsbor- ough County Bar Associa- tion’s Diversity Membership Luncheon. The event was held at the Hilton Tampa Downtown.
Three members of the legal profession were recog- nized for their outstanding contributions to the legal profession. The Diversity Membership Luncheon is an annual awards ceremony.
Attorney Lansing Scriven was chosen as the recipient of the “2017 Out- standing Lawyer Award.” This award recog- nizes an attorney who has made a significant difference in the practice of law and the community because of his or her personal and profes- sional ethics and conduct.
Attorney Scriven is a shareholder with Trenam
Law and a member of its Commercial Litigation Group. He has also served as special prosecutor for the Florida Judicial Qualifica- tions Commission since 1994.
He served on the Florida Bar Board of Governors for several years and was elected to the Executive Committee of the Board of Governors in 2015.
Last year, he was ap- pointed to the Board of Gov- ernors’ Special Committee on the 2017 Florida Consti- tution Revision Commis- sion.
In addition to his profes- sional achievements, Attor- ney Scriven has devoted time to participate in several community and civic initia- tives. He has also served on several boards and commit- tees.

cially humbled to be the first African American lawyer in the Bar Association’s history to receive this award and truly appreciate the contri- butions of other African American lawyers who paved the way for my suc- cess in this community.”
Attorney Scriven is married to federal Judge Mary Scriven and they are
the parents of four adult children. Their youngest child is a freshman at the University of Richmond. And they also have one grandson.
The “2017 Robert W. Patton Outstanding Ju- rist Award” was presented to Chief Judge Ronald Fi- carrotta, of the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Court.
This award, presented by the HCBA Young Lawyers Division (YLD), recognizes an outstanding jurist who has an excellent reputation for sound judicial decisions, demonstrates concern or willingness to assist young lawyers, and shows respect for their abilities.
Judge Ficarrotta is well-known for his support of and willingness to mentor and assist young lawyers and has maintained an open-door policy to young members of the Bar and the young attorneys he super- vised.
Attorney Linda An- derson was chosen as the recipient of the “2017 Out- standing Young Lawyer” Award. This award recognizes an attor- ney who has demonstrated exemplary performance in the areas of professionalism and in the practice of law in his or her field.
Attorney Anderson,
who is a staff attorney with Bay Area Legal Services, has created and implemented an innovative project called iLawyer, which increases ac- cess to legal services for low- income families and individuals, by allowing pro bono attorneys to meet vir- tually with clients via Skype.
In addition to her work with iLawyer, Attorney Anderson is an active member of the HCBA and the Hillsborough Associa- tion of Women Lawyers (HAWL), and is involved in their community service committees.
