Memphis Man Arrested After Trying To Run Over Black Children With His Car
Good Samaritans Find $25K In Cash And Return To Rightful Owner
When Georgia couple Jeff and Michelle Green came across a deposit bag with al- most $25,000 inside on Nov. 16, they immediately turned it over to police, not knowing that an investigation had al- ready been launched into the missing cash.
Rincon Police Department received a call that same day from local business owner Gautambhai Patel, who said he lost that very bag of money that he was going to deposit in the bank.
“How about some GOOD news?!?” wrote the Rincon Police Department in a post on Facebook.
Today, local business owner Gautambhai Patel reported having lost a deposit bag with nearly $25,000. Our office began investigating but hoped that whoever would find the bag would do the right thing and turn it in. Local residents Jeff and Mechelle Green are those

“They recovered the bag
and made sure it was re- turned to the rightful owner. We always encourage citizens to do the right thing both morally and legally! Thank you to the Green’s!” stated the post.
This weekend a man in Memphis, Tennessee was ar- rested after he allegedly screamed racial slurs at Black children and then attempted to run them down with his car.
According to Fox 13 Mem- phis, Saturday, Bradly Watkins got into a heated argument with a Black family as they were shopping at the Family Dollar, a discount re- tail chain. Witnesses told po- lice that after the customers left the store, Watkins fol- lowed them out in order to continue the dispute.
The Memphis Police De- partment confirmed that as the family was walking home they noticed that a Ford Crown Victoria was following them. At some point Watkins allegedly held a gun in one hand while yelling, “N****r I’ll kill you!”

at them.
Officials then say that
when the group scattered, in hopes of confusing their as- sailant, that’s when he chose to hyper-focus on the chil- dren instead of the adults.
“A witness on the scene
saw Watkins chase the vic- tims at a high rate of speed, running them off the road,” reports the local Fox affiliate.
When the police caught up with Watkins he admitted that he was involved in an ar- gument with two minors at Family Dollar, but didn’t make mention of his verbal abuse or gun-wielding threats. The suspect also re- fused to give the Memphis Police Department consent to search his home or vehicle.
Watkins was charged with two counts of aggra- vated assault and was ex- pected to be arraigned in court.
In a racist incident at a dif- ferent discount store chain, Dollar General, last year, a white clerk was eventually fired after he refused to ac- cept coupons from a Black woman.
Tennessee Judge Says Black-On-Black Crime Worse Than Klan Killings
A Second Gay Black Man Has Died At The Home Of Democratic Donor Ed Buck
Another Black man has been found dead at the home of wealthy Democratic donor Ed Buck.
Authorities were on the scene to investigate at around 3:35 a.m. on Monday, ac- cording to WeHoville.
The deceased man’s name has not been released.
This incident marks the second time a Black gay man has died in Buck’s home. Gemmel Moore died of a suspected overdose in July 2017, as Blavity previously reported. Moore’s friends and family accused Buck of drugging young Black gay men for his sexual amuse- ment.
“Buck would have my son to go out to ... Santa Monica Boulevard looking for young gay Black guys so he could in- ject them with drugs, see their reaction and how they would react and take pictures of them,” Moore’s mother, LaTisha Nixon, said of Buck in 2017. She said she got that information from one of Moore’s associates.
John Bice, another friend, validated Nixon’s story and described how Buck preyed on vulnerable people.
"Basically this guy would find young struggling Black guys around town, pick them up and say he was going to help them out — make sure

they had clothes and food. ... He wanted to see them get high, first with weed. Then one day, the guy wanted him to shoot up," Bice said.
The Advocate reports Buck was never charged for the 26-year-old’s death be- cause the evidence was “in- sufficient to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt,” according to the Los Angeles District Attorney's office.
Buck is known for donat- ing to major Democratic can- didates including Hillary Clinton and West Holly- wood City Council members John D’Amico and Lind- sey Horvath. He has never publicly commented on Moore, but his lawyer called the young man's death “acci- dental” and “unfortunate.”
Communications strate- gist Jasmyne Cannick an-
nounced plans for a rally at Buck’s home on Monday evening at 7 p.m. on Twitter. Cannick mentioned Moore in an op-ed about her cam- paign to be a delegate for Cal- ifornia’s Democratic Party. She believes the party is in the midst of a morality crisis.
“That’s not the kind of po- litical party I want to belong to. One that sees the lives of Black people as being ex- pendable. As Black Democ- rats, that is not the type of return we expect on our years of investing in the Demo- cratic Party with our votes,” she wrote. “If Gemmel Moore had been a white male or female — I seriously doubt the Party leadership would have been able to sweep it under the rug the way they so carelessly and de- liberately did.”
A Tennessee judge has made headlines for alleging black men are doing a better job at killing one another than the Ku Klux Klan.
Montgomery County
Judge Wayne Shelton
went on a lengthy rant Friday (Jan. 4) while presiding over a preliminary hearing involv- ing Vincent Bryan Merri- weather accused of gunning down another black man.
"I grew up in a time where people wore white robes and they shot at black people," Shelton said. "And now we see young black men wearing black hoodies shooting at black men — and doing a much more effective job than the Klan ever thought about doing."
According to witness tes- timony, Merriweather, 26, and the victim, Antorius Gallion, 22, exchanged gun- fire between their cars on Nov. 19. The two attended a local high school game and their feet supposedly brushed against one another in the stands, which led to a stare down. Gallion was shot in the head.
Along with Merri- weather, Cedrick Stacker, 23, and Marques Lamarr Kelly, 25, have all been charged with homicide. Merriweather turned him- self into police without inci-

This isn't the first time
Shelton has spoken against the violence within the black community. In May 2015, Shelton lamented over two recent high school graduates who shot and killed another young black man following a high school graduation.
“That’s the absolute tragedy,” Shelton said of the 2015 crime.“It’s black men killing black men. The Klan doesn’t exist anymore,” he said. “Who doesn’t care about black lives now? I’ll let you answer that. I’m tired of black men killing black men. If I offended anyone ... I can’t help it.”
