During a meeting with Board members Tuesday morning, Hillsborough County School Superin- tendent Jeff Eakins named appointments to serve in his cabinet. Earlier this year, Su- perintendent Eakins had required all of the current em- ployees to re-apply for their jobs and complete a rigorous application process.
The first phase of the re-or- ganization took place last June, before Superintend- ent Eakins officially took control of the board on July 1st.
The unveiling of the names marks the end of the second phase of his tri-fold re-organi- zation plan. The final stage of the plan will take place on July 19th.
Superintendent Eakins said, beginning July 6th, Ms. Elizabeth Agresta will serve as the Chief Academic Officer, Ms. Gretchen Saunders will serve as Chief Business Officer, and Chris Farkas will remain in his role as Chief Operations Officer. Ms. Saunders and Farkas will

A 44-year-old man was killed Wednesday night while riding his bicycle. He was on the Howard Frankland Bridge when the incident took place.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, John M. Brennan, of Sayreville, New Jersey, was riding his bicycle southbound in the outside paved shoulder of the Howard Frankland Bridge.
As he approached the 36 milepost, Brennan’s bicycle was struck by 2016 Toyota Camry driven by William B. Matthews, 67, of Bay Har- bor Island.
Brennan sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. After striking the bicycle, police said Matthews con- tinued on southbound on In- terstate 275, then turned west on Ulmerton Road. Florida Highway Patrol

Ms. Lisa Yost, Area I; Mar- cos Murillo, Area II; Ms. Anna Brown, Area III; Donell Underdue, Jr., Area IV; Dr. Michelle Fitzgerald, Area V; Ms. Sharon Morris, Area VI; Owen Young, Area VII; and Ms. Shaylia McRae, Area VIII.
Ms. Sherry Sikes, Ms. Brenda Grasso, and Henry Washington, all current Area Superintendents, are slated to retire next year. They will help the newly appointed Area Superintendents to tran- sition into their positions.
When questioned about the future of current Chief of Schools, Dr. Larry Sykes,
Superintendent Eakins said, “Dr. Sykes will transi- tion into the position of Com- munity Outreach. He is very excited about transitioning into this role. We must have clarity in the community. That is very important and Dr. Sykes is the perfect person for that role.”
