Bucs Add A Veteran Linebacker And Cornerback
DEVANTE HARRIS AND KEVIN MINTER
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today the team has signed cornerback De’Vante Harris and linebacker Kevin Minter.
Harris (5-11, 190) spent time with Tampa Bay earlier this season. He spent the previ- ous two seasons (2016-17) play- ing for the New Orleans Saints.
Minter (6-0, 246) origi- nally entered the NFL as a sec- ond-round pick (45th overall) of the Arizona Cardinals in the 2013 NFL Draft. He spent his first four seasons with Arizona (2013-16), before spending the 2017 season with the Cincin- nati Bengals.
Cam Newton Named NFC Offensive Player Of The Week
On Turnovers For Bucs To
Thrive Against Bengals
They don’t give awards for quarters, so Cam Newton won it for the entire week.
The Panthers quarterback was named NFC offensive player of the week, after lead- ing his team back from a 17-0 deficit to beat the Eagles.
Newton led the Panthers to 21 unanswered points in the fourth quarter, tying the Pan- thers franchise record for largest comeback.
He was 16-of-22 for 201 yards and two touchdowns in the fourth quarter alone, as he went to the quicker pace he’s
The Tampa Bay Bucca- neers might have pulled out an overtime win against the Cleveland Browns Sunday, but four costly turnovers -- in- cluding three from star quar- terback Jameis Winston -- almost kept it from happen- ing.
Also, the Bucs have to cor- rect the missed field goals in every game. Those one or two adds up at the end of the games.
Two weeks ago against the Atlanta Falcons, it did hap- pen. In two starts and three games this season, Winston already has seven turnovers.
Winston's turnover problem has to be corrected with the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday -- a team known for its punishing and opportunistic defense -- up next, and with some of the league's better de- fenses on deck with the Wash- ington Redskins and Baltimore Ravens.
JAMEIS WINSTON Winston's first turnover
against the Browns came in the second quarter on a pass over the middle intended for tight end O. J. Howard, landing in the hands of line- backer Christian Kirksey at the Cleveland 27-yard line.
Koetter didn't mention mechanics, but you could also argue Winston needed to get more air under the throw, something the QB acknowl- edged.
Winston stated he will continue to get better and cut down on the turnovers. The game starts at 1 p.m. in Cincinnati.

He was 9-of-17 for 68 yards in the first three quarters, but that’s something they’re will- ing to overlook.

A rep with the Pennsylva- nia Parole Board has con- firmed that Carruth is now under their supervision.
Carruth must still abide by the same release conditions imposed on him by the state of North Carolina, where he served his prison time.
