Faith And Hope vs Knowing And Believing/Your Choice
BY ALFRED T. PYLES ChipTanEZU Middleton HS – 1969-1971, Leto HS, C/O 1972
Words are powerful, yet in and of themselves are useless if not attached to an action.
(Continued From February 18, 2022)
Having faith and hoping, in my opinion excludes one from any actions of responsibilities or that of accountability.
We’ve been programed to think by confessing that you have a degree of faith, and then hoping for a desired outcome one can con- jure up the blessings and miracles of God through the act of praying. Praying by asking and begging. “I’m just goner have faith and hope and wait on the Lord.” That’s what you say and that’s what you do more times than not, you wait on the Lord. Your only responsibility is to wait on the Lord.
Words are powerful, yet in and of themselves are useless if not attached to an action.
Waiting denotes getting supported by my Knowing and Believ- ing. For when I know that my knowing knows, I need not apply a feeling of need to be assured. When I believe, there’s no need to have faith nor hope. Knowing and believing trumps having faith and hoping. You and I have been conditioned – programed to seek out- side of our own spirits - deliverance, (the act of being rescued or set free). We seek deliverance from God. You often seek to be rescued or set free by your deity. We traditionally ask and beg God to do for us, hope that our prayers will be answered.
What need therefore of your spirit? Your spirit is where you communicate and have dialogue with your deity. That is where the sanctity of spiritual instruction exists (Holiness of life or disposi- tion).
“What are you saying Shepherd? I’m saying that our whole spir- itual, religious concept of God has been taught to us and is based on nothing more than praying to the Almighty to do something in our behalf, whatever that may be. We’re to worship God, or whatever the name of your deity in Spirit and in Truth. Worship simply by ac- knowledging and giving thanks. But we’ve been taught to ask or even beg for things. We ask and beg for favor. We ask and beg for a de- sired outcome.
