AIKENS
MR. RUDOLPH BROOKS
A Homegoing Celebration for Vietnam, veteran Mr. Rudolph Brooks of Tampa Florida, who passed away sur- rounded by family on Monday, February 14, 2022, will be held on Saturday, February 26th, 2:00 p.m., at Northside M. B. Church, 5706 N. 40th St.; Pastor Ricardo Robinson; Min. Erica Harrington, officiating. The in- terment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Ceme- tery.
“Brooks,” as he was known to many, was born on April 15, 1945, to the late Dora Lee Green and Hinton Brooks. He gradu- ated from Blake and Middleton High School in Hillsborough County, where he was known as “Yogi.” He was then drafted into the United States Army, and re- ceived many awards, ribbons, and service bars during his 23 years and 11 days of service. He was also an expert rifleman. On September 30, 1990, he retired honorably with the rank of Ser- geant First Class.
Brooks enjoyed fishing, grilling, swimming, laughing, and playing tricks on others for laughs. He was loved dearly by his neighbors and the many friends he met along his jour- ney.
Rudolph was preceded in death by: his parents; son, Chad- wick Crawford; brothers, Her- bert and Alphonso King, and Hinton Brooks Simmons; sis- ters, Catherine Brooks and Jeanette Battles; uncle, Luther Jones; and cousins, Inez and Jerome Brister.
He leaves to cherish his memories with: his devoted wife of 43 years, Ruth Crawford Brooks; daughters, Alesia Brooks and Tarkesha Porter (Russell); son, Russell Craw- ford; eleven grandchildren, in- cluding Rushawn Porter; nineteen great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; sis- ters-in-law, Sherron Bell (Rudy), and Ella Rivers (Stan- ley); brothers-in-law, Mickey Crawford, Ray Charles Staple- ton (Sandra), Matthew and David Williams, and Danny Sta- pleton.
The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
All in attendance are re- quired to wear face masks and follow CDC guidelines.

System for 15 years. He also worked with the City of Tampa Recreation Center. Emanuel coached and mentored many young people to be their best in sports. Coach Jones also held the highest batting average for the City of Tampa. He retired from Anheuser-Busch Brewery and Delta Airlines.
Emanuel accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Zion AME Church, where he served on the Jr. Usher Board. His love for Christ continued into his adult and senior years with his last commission being at First Bap- tist Church of Progress Village where he held the position in the ministry of Connect Now! In that ministry he shared the love of Christ by welcoming new members and visitors.
Many will miss and cherish the time spent with him. To name a few family members: wife, Martha Jones; son, Emanuel Jones, Jr.; daughters, Staci Jones, Allyson (Jeffrey) Brown of Atlanta, GA.; grand- children, Sage and Jacob Brown of Atlanta, GA.; sister in- law, Edna (Earl) Grooms, of Red Level, AL; brothers in-law, John Jenkins, Jr., of Birming- ham Al, Phillip Jenkins, Birm- ingham, AL and Aubery Jenkins of Atlanta, GA.; 1st cousin, Wes- ley (Stephanie) Williams of Upper Marlboro, MD, Earl Williams, Lawrence Williams and Jennett Campbell of San- ford, FL,; goddaughter, Bar- bara (Roosevelt) Jones, godson, Herbert Newton of St. Lewis, MO; special friends, Robert Parker, Jr., Harvest Mitchell Florence, AL, Willie Williams, Sr., Dr. Maxwell Parker of Gainesville, FL Carl and Jewel Warren and Eileen Wilford; and a host of other rel- atives and friends. The visita- tion will be held at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd, on Friday, February 25th, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., and also at First Baptist Church of Progress Village on Saturday, February 26th, from 12:00-1:00 p.m.

A Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Cecelia P. Fields of Tampa, Florida, who passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, will be held on Saturday, February 26th, 10:30 a.m. at Aikens Fu- neral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd, Rev. Lance Stephen, officiating. The inter- ment will be held at Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Cecelia enjoyed singing, cook- ing, spending time with her fam- ily and inspiring others to pursue their dreams. She shared knowl- edge about the Bible and helped guide friends and loved ones on their righteous path. She will be missed dearly.
Cecelia was preceded in death by: her husband, Booker T. Fields, Jr., mother, Eva Bernice Jones; aunts, Marie “Aunt Tut” Stewart, Drewnather “Aunt Drew” Jarvis and Pearly Spencer.
She leaves to cherish her memory: children, Delirie L. Powell (Michael), Yvette L. Ellis, Malynda L. Sykes, Bernietta L. Sherrod and Annanora L. Fields; grandchildren, Delirie L. Ballard, Michelle Jackson, Sherelle Can- tave (Frank), Johnathan Powell, Ezekiel Bryant, Kameron Powell, Harold Ellis, II, Yvelisse Ellis- Curtiss (Benjamin), Antonio S. A Homegoing Celebration for Ms. Vera Foster of Tampa, Florida, who passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022, will be held on Saturday, Febru- ary 26th, 1:00 p.m. at Aikens Fu- neral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd, Rev. Gre- gory Gay, officiating. The inter- ment will be held at Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Vera was born March 22, 1965, in Ashburn, Georgia, to Marvin Foster and Beulah Cush- ion. She loved watching football and basketball. Her favorite football team was Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and her favorite basketball player was Kevin Du- rant.
Vera was preceded in death by: her mother, Beulah Cushion and father, Marvin Foster.
She leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Courtney Gilbert; brother, Donte B. Rush- ing, sister, Tammy Foster- Knight; nieces, Taisha Green, Lyric Green, Ri’yonna Rushing, Savanna Rushing and Harmony Rushing; nephews, Donte Rush- ing, Jr., (DJ), Donte Rushing, III, Jayden Davis and Kwame Green, and a host of cousins.

MR. EMANUEL JONES, SR.
A Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Emanuel Jones, Sr., of Seffner, Florida, who passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2022, will be held on Saturday, February 26th, 1:00 p.m. First Baptist Church of Progress Vil- lage, 8722 Progress Blvd., Tampa, Florida, Min. Rickey Houston, officiating. The inter- ment will be held at Sunset Memory Gardens.
We are honored to share the life of Emanuel Jones, Sr. He was born on November 16, 1936, in Sanford, FL, and was loved by his parents Anthony Dubose and Dorothy Reeves Jones Dubose until they were parted by death. At an early age his family relocated to Tampa and lived in Hyde Park.
Emanuel attended the Hills- borough County School system and graduated from Howard W. Blake High School. He had a de- sire to become a teacher and give back to his community. In 1964, Emanuel earned his de- gree in Physical Education with a minor in Geography at Ala- bama State University in Mont- gomery, AL. While at Alabama State University he was an ac- complished athlete in baseball, track, and basketball.
That is also where he met, fell in love and married Martha Jenkins. Emanuel and Martha’s union grew their family with 3 children. Emanuel Jones, Jr., Staci Jones and Allyson (Jef- frey) Jones Brown. But the high- light came in the way of grandchildren, Sage and Jacob Brown. Emanuel and Martha’s love for each other and their family lasted for 56 years.
Emanuel was employed with the Hillsborough County School
