APOSTLE DEWEY JAMES HENDRIX
A Celebration of Life Serv- ice for Apostle Dewey James Hendrix of Tampa, FL, who passed away on February 10, 2022, will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at 11 a. m. at Light of the World Church, 4701 North 15th Street, Tampa, Florida 33610. Pastor Pernell Scott, officiating.
Dewey James Hendrix, Jr. was born on December 8, 1976 in Pahokee, FL to Dewey Hen- drix, Sr. and Dorothy Hendrix. He was well known in muck city as “Bootman” since a little boy and everyone was aware that he was called to be someone spe- cial. At a young age he dedi- cated his life to Christ and would travel around doing min- istry for the Lord. He had a total of ten siblings, Tashandria Hendrix-Richardson (Freder- ick), Jacquetta Hendrix, Em- manuel Hendrix, Emma Harrison, Avon Pitts, James Lee, Delinia Jackson (Craig), Jewel Hendrix, Doya Hendrix and Paul Hendrix.
Dewey James Hendrix, Jr. was anointed and multi-tal- ented. He was anointed to sing, preach, and play different in- struments. He loved traveling, cooking, fishing and anything that had to do with ministry.
Dewey James Hendrix, Jr. moved to Tampa, FL where he met and married Tameka Hen- drix. He had a total of ten chil- dren, Jajuana Hendrix, Jajuan Hendrix, Sr., Dewey Hendrix III, Alexis Hendrix, Daniel Hendrix, David Hendrix, Elijah Hendrix, and god-daughter, Tayonnia McClary. Sixteen grandchildren, Jajuan Hen- drix, Jr., Jajuan Hendrix III, Davario Hendrix, Davaris Hen- drix, Davarion Hendrix, Kalil Mingo, Jr., Akeem Mingo, Kaleb Mingo, Marticus Wash- ington, Dewey Hendrix, 5th, Christopher Castro, I’yanna Flowers and JQuan Flowers; aunts and uncles, Emma Baker, Helen Branch, Brenda Bald- win, James Quinn, Willie Lee; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends.
There will be a viewing on Friday, February 25, 2022 from 4:30 to 6:30 p. m. at Light of the World Church. Family and friends are asked to assemble for the funeral service on Sat- urday at 10:45 a. m. CDC guide- lines will be followed. MASKS ARE REQUIRED.

MR. EARL W. LAWTON
On Monday, February 14, 2022, Earl W. Lawton, affectionately known as “Peewee or EW”, an- swered the Master’s call and took his rest.
Earl was born to the late Eaden Lawton, Sr. and the late Idella Stephens in Sparr, Florida, on No- vember 16, 1939. Earl spent his early years in Sparr being raised by his aunt, the late Alza Lawton Kennedy.
Earl attended the public schools of Marion County and was a gradu- ate of Fessenden High School’s Class of 1958. After high school, Earl enrolled in Gibbs College where he received his Associates Degree. He then entered the United States Air Force in 1962 and upon leaving the Armed Forces, moved to Tampa, Florida where he gained employment at Westinghouse as a Manager and retired in 1987. Want- ing to stay busy, he then went to work at the Veterans Hospital as a Surgical Tech where he retired in 2001.
Earl was an avid softball player, bowler, golfer and fisherman when he wasn’t working. He also pro- vided dedicated service as a mem- ber of the Board for the Tampa Family Health Center for a number of years after retirement finally re- linquishing his seat in 2020.
Earl loved life and he loved being around happy people; he loved to just sit around, watch and observe people and wait for some- one to hand him a plate.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Eaden Lawton, Sr., Idella Stephens and Hinton Stephens, Sr.; sister, Willie Mae Stephens-Tharpe; son, Michael E. Lawton, and daughter, Glenda Wilkerson.
Those that will miss him dearly are: his children: Karen M. Eady (Terance), MaRandell Lawton and Karla Lawton and their mother, Beatrice Lawton, whom he main- tained a special bond with, all of Tampa; 15 grandchildren, 18 great- grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild; brothers: Hinton Stephens, Jr. and Adali Stephens, both of Tampa, and Clyde Kennedy, Jr. of Sparr; sisters: Eartha Hills, Deborah Cooper of Tampa and Liz Bagley, Gail Kennedy and Margaret Wise of Sparr; devoted families, the Mackeys, Taylors, Williams, Boston, Bagleys and Morants; spe- cial friends, Mac McKeever, Clyde and Hazel Manning, John Christo- pher (Geraldine), Vivian Gardner as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousin and sorrowing friends.
The Viewing for Mr. Lawton will be Thursday, February 24, 5-7 p. m., at Blount & Curry Funeral Home and Garden of Memories, 4207 E. Lake Ave., Tampa 33610.
The Service is Friday, February 25th, 2 p. m., at
Bethel AME Church, 5001 Cumber- land Dr., Tampa 33617. The Color — —BLUE.
