Trump Claims Bahamians Need 'Totally Proper Documentation' To Enter U. S.
CNN Poll: 6 In 10 Say Trump Does Not Deserve A Second Term
WASHINGTON -Six in 10 Americans say President Donald Trump does not deserve to be reelected, ac- cording to a new CNN Poll conducted by SSRS, and more now say he's doing a poor job than a good one of keeping important campaign promises.
Overall, the poll paints a picture of a President who has done little to improve negative impressions of him or his work during his time in office. Across several ques- tions asked early in Trump's time in office and asked again

now, the poll finds little posi- tive change and deep partisan
polarization.
The 60% who say the Pres-
ident does not deserve to be reelected is similar to the 63% who felt that way in No- vember 2017. That outpaces his most recent predecessors at a similar stage in their presidencies. In October 2003, a CNN/Gallup/USA Today poll found that 52% of Americans thought George W. Bush did deserve reelec- tion, and Gallup's polling in 2011 found the share saying Barack Obama did not de- serve to be reelected stood in the low 50s.
Trump told reporters out- side the White House that any- one seeking refuge in the wake of Hurricane Dorian "needs to- tally proper documentation."
In particular, Trump ex- pressed concern over "people going to the Bahamas who weren't supposed to be there." "I don't want to allow people that weren't supposed to be in the Bahamas to come into the United States including some very bad people," he added, re- ferring specifically to gang members and drug dealers who fled to the islands.
It was not immediately clear what Trump was referring to.
At least 45 people are dead, hundreds are missing and some 70,000 are homeless in the wake of Hurricane Dorian, which wreaked havoc over the islands for two days.
Earlier Monday, Trump's acting Customs and Border Protection head Mark Mor- gan said that the U. S. is still vetting and processing Ba- hamians attempting to come into the U. S. who lack docu- mentation.
"If your life is in jeopardy and you're in the Bahamas and you want to get to the United States, you're going to be al- lowed to come to the United States, whether you have travel documents or not," he told re- porters during a press briefing

at the White House.
On Sunday night, about 130
individuals seeking to evacuate the Bahamas were kicked off a ferry heading to the Florida. The ferry operator, who had promised to take them to the U. S., blamed red tape with US immigration authorities, an- nounced only those with valid U. S. visas would be able to continue on.
Morgan said Monday that the U. S. is expediting the pro- cessing for Bahamians to enter the U. S. as they seek refuge.
"But keep in mind, there are still people that are inadmissi- ble to this country," Morgan said.
Those individuals, he said, would be processed as they normally would under other conditions, which could in- clude relocation to Immigra- tions and Customs Enforcement custody.
