29 Murders Have Taken Place In 2015

Since the beginning of the New Year, 29 people have died as a result of violence in Hillsborough County. The majority of those murders re- main unsolved and are under active investigation.
So far, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has investigated 10 deaths (in- cluding one case involving two victims) in which vio- lence was involved. The Sher- iff’s Office has solved 7 of the murders. The open investiga- tion are as follows:
Christino Basilio Galvez, 26, died on Febru- ary 14th.
Deputies responded to a residence on March 1st in ref- erence the death of 32-year- old Oscar Luis Castro Gonzalez. His roommate, Jorge Rivero Perez, 23, was arrested on other charges, but has not been charged with the death.
The final unsolved case currently being investigated is the murder of George McCord, 39, on March 24th.
The Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office de- clined to prosecute Ar- mando Yordan in the shooting death of Angel Reyes, on February 28th at Thee Crazy Horse Bar.
Plant City Police Depart- ment is currently investigat- ing the death of Manuel Silva Maldonado, 39, who died on January 14th.
The Temple Terrace Po- lice Department referred the shooting death of Michael Estenfil, 32, to the Hillsbor- ough County State Attorney’s Office to determine if charges will be filed against Kelvin Spencer, 36. The two men
exchanged gunfire at an apartment complex on March 7th.
The Tampa Police De- partment has investigated 17 violent deaths this year, with 9 of those investigations still open. Currently, three of the deaths that occurred in Jan- uary are open cases.
Those victims are: Lyfe Coleman, 18, and James Strouse, 51, who both died on January 5th in unrelated incidents; and LeTerrence Coggins, 24, who was killed on January 19th.
The case involving the death of Christopher Red- dick, on January 17th was do- mestic related and referred to the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office to de- termine if charges will be filed.
During the month of Feb- ruary, Tampa Police investi- gated four violent deaths, two of which remain open inves- tigations. Reginald High- tower, 28, was killed on February 8th, while at the Columbus Court Apartments and Roberto Cruz Gomez, 31, died on February 21st.
Tampa Police have re- sponded to seven violent deaths in March. Four of those deaths, David Cooper, 32, (March 7); Jamylin Turner, 16, (March 14), Richard New- ton, 14, (March 21), and Bryant Murray, 44, (March 22), are all open cases that are under investi- gation.
Police referred the shoot- ing death of Anton Fisher, 35, that took place on March 2nd, to the State Attorney’s Office to determine if An- thony Martin, 23, will be charged.

filed in the shooting death of Ikeim Boswell, 16, that took place on March 14th. The shooting was later ruled acci- dental.
A warrant was issued for the arrest of Reo Thomas Nance, 30, for leaving the scene of a crash involving death in the case of Herbert M. James, 25, that took
place on March 22nd.
The most recent homicide
took place on April 6th, with the murder of Ms. Denise Albury Coleman, 60, who was found dead in her home. Police arrested her boyfriend, James Ware, on April 7th and charged him with first- degree murder.
