Oakland Raiders Surprisingly Cut Punter Marquette King
MARQUETTE KING
The Oakland Raiders made a surprising move to clear a lit- tle bit of cap space on Friday.
The Raiders cut punter Marquette King, an unex- pected decision that will save the team a bit of cap space.
King was a second-team All-Pro in 2016. He is also one of the most interesting and ex- citing punters in the game, even if that could get him in trouble sometimes. Expect him to find a new landing spot sooner rather than later.
Vince Carter Expresses Regret Over Play That Injured McCaw
VINCE CARTER
Vince Carter was respon- sible for the play that resulted in Golden State Warriors guard Patrick McCaw being stretchered off the court, and many have criticized Carter for the dirty play. However, it seems clear that the 41-year- old veteran did not intend to injure his opponent.
Right after Carter under- cut McCaw, Warriors coach Steve Kerr was heard on the television broadcast saying he’s angry with Carter and that “Vince knows better.”
Kerr quickly realized how distraught Carter was and went over to console him. Carter, who was assessed a flagrant foul, was apologetic when speaking with reporters after Golden State’s 112-96 win.
“I just hope he’s OK,” Carter said. “I play this game because I love it and enjoy it. He has a bright future. You can tell me whatever, it was an ac- cident, I just don’t like to see him sitting there in pain saying he can’t feel his lower half. It doesn’t sit well with me.”

  Brother Jahrell
The attorney for Philadel- phia Eagles defensive end Michael Bennett said his client will enter a not guilty plea if his felony case on a charge of injury to the elderly goes to trial.
"The only two possible outcomes for this case is the DA's office [saying] they don't have a case and dismissing, or a trial -- one or the other," attorney Rusty Hardin told ESPN. "If and whenever they ask for a plea, it will be not guilty."
Bennett's next court ap- pearance in Harris County, Texas, is set for April 23, court documents show. Hardin does not expect a plea request on that date; the first setting is mostly an op- portunity for Hardin and the district attorney's office to exchange information.
Bennett posted $10,000 bond Monday after a grand jury indicted him over an in- cident at NRG Stadium fol- lowing Super Bowl LI.
According to Hardin, no travel restrictions were put in place during the bond hear- ing Monday, meaning Ben- nett is free to travel -- whether that be to Philadel- phia for work or otherwise -- so long as he makes his court appearances. As for the pos- sibility of conflicts with the

Eagles' schedule, Hardin said they will request a differ- ent court date should such a situation arise to try to avoid any absences.
A warrant was issued for Bennett's arrest on March 23 after a grand jury indicted him on the felony charge of injury to the elderly. A release from the district attorney's office states that Bennett was a spectator in Houston to watch his brother, Martel- lus, then a tight end for the New England Patriots, play in the Super Bowl on Feb. 5, 2017. After the game, Michael Bennett allegedly shoved his way onto the field, according to the district at- torney's office. NRG security personnel, including a 66- year-old paraplegic woman, told Bennett he had to use a different entrance for field ac- cess, but the defensive end al- legedly pushed through them, including the woman.

      Reportedly Shot
What should have been one of the happiest weeks of Damian Lillard’s life has quickly taken a turn, as the NBA star’s half-brother was reportedly shot on last Thurs- day night.
The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office in Oregon con- firmed that Lillard’s 20-year- old half-brother Jahrell was the victim of a shooting at the Clackamas Town Center. He was transported to a local hos- pital, and his condition was unknown as of Friday morn- ing. Police were searching for two suspects.
More details:
Two African-American males got in a confrontation with Lillard in the parking lot that ended with the Lillard being shot, according to Sgt. Brian Jensen with the sher- iff’s office. The shooting was reported at around 9 p.m.
Lillard made his way into

a nearby Macy’s Home Store, where he collapsed on the floor and was given first aid, Jensen said. He was taken to a hospital but Jensen was not sure how serious Lillard’s in- juries were.
The two suspects were last seen running onto Southeast Monterrey Avenue.
Several cars were hit by gunfire as well, Jensen said.
Damian Lillard left the Blazers earlier in the week to be with his girlfriend as the couple welcomed its first child.
