Young Man Receives Christian Service Award
For wholesome achievements and contributions
The National Baptist Deacons Convention of America, Inc. and its Auxil- iaries recently presented a National Christian Service Award to Brother Theron James, Jr., of Tampa.
James received the award for an ongoing list of wholesome achievements and contributions to the Convention and his local community.
James has been a dele- gate to the Convention for over a decade, starting in the Convention’s Youth Depart- ment, where he was elected Vice President and later served as President of the National Youth Department. He currently serves as 3rd Vice-President-at-large on the General Board for the Young Adult Department.
As a youth delegate, he won The Convention’s Na- tional Oratorical Contest and received a Christian Citizen- ship Award. He also led one of the Convention’s largest Youth Delegations from his home state of Florida.
In his local community (Tampa), he volunteers at Feed America and Metropol- itan Ministries; additionally, he works with the food pantry at his home church, which provides community food services several times

ber of Tampa Bay Youth & Young Adult Mass Choir of The Gospel Music Workshop America, Inc. (TBYYA Com- munity Choir) under the leadership of Minister Larenz Johnson (Head Chapter Leader).
He supports his church via participation in its local Congress, District Associa- tion, and The Progressive Missionary & Educational Baptist State Convention of FL. Inc., from which he has received several awards, in-
cluding a Fine Arts Award and a Leadership Award.
James is a member of The New Mt. Zion Mission- ary Baptist Church of Tampa FL, Inc., under the pastorate of the Reverend Larry L. Roundtree, II. James also attends his state’s Con- gress of Christian Education and Discipleship Youth Con- vention. He is very active in his church’s community- wide youth ministries, in- cluding Saving Our Children Ministry, and he is event co- ordinator for Ambassadors of Jesus Christ Ministry.
James graduated from high school last year, after attaining high academic achievement and participat- ing in the Student Govern- ment Association. Currently, he is enrolled at two colleges: he is a freshman at Hillsbor- ough Community College, majoring in Culinary Arts Management, and at Grace & Truth Christian University (Theological Studies) under the professorship of the Reverend Dr. Thomas L. Dozier. James aspires to become an entrepreneur.
Business Donates $1000 To Juneteenth Coalition
Alexandra (Alex) Bustos, center, Community Affairs Co- ordinator for Amscot Financial, presented a check in the amount of $1,000 to the Board Members of the Tampa Bay Juneteenth Coalition. Board Members present: Pastor Tucker-Johnson (President), Pastor C. U. Sutton (VP), Jessie Quinn (Secretary), Norma Pierce (Sgt-At-Arms), and Pastor Celeste Battle (Treasurer).
