First Unity Tampa Historical And Cultural Festival Planned

On Saturday, October 13th, the West Tampa CRA will host the first of what will become an annual event. Members of the com- munity are invited to attend the First Annual Unity Tampa Historical and Cul- tural Festival.
The event will take place at Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park, 1001 N. Boulevard, Tampa, 33606, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
It is free and open to the public. Those in attendance will celebrate the history and cultural diversity of West Tampa.
The entertainment will include a special tribute to a Tampa R&B group who are products of the West Tampa community. The group,

known as Faith, Hope & Charity, enjoyed the success of having several hits on the Billboard R&B charts.
Its original members in- cluded Zulema Cusseaux, Brenda Hilliard, and Al Bailey. Others who joined the group included Diane

Destry, who replaced Zulema, in 1974, and Priscilla Baskerville is credited with being a mem- ber before the group dis- banded.
The group produced such hits as “So Much Love,” “Baby Don’t Take Your Love,” and

“Just One Look.”
In addition to the trib- ute, there will be food trucks, local entertainment, a bounce house, lawn games and more.
Vendor Deadline
Organizations wishing to participate in the event must complete an Exhibitor
Registration Form. The booths are free, however, they are being offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. The form must be submit- ted no later than Tuesday, October 9, 2018.
The West Tampa CRA redevelopment area in- cludes all public and private property located within the boundaries of West Colum- bus Drive, South Kennedy Blvd., N. Armenia Avenue, and the Hillsborough River.
Malcolm Kiner is the Manager of the West Tampa CRA, Joe Robin- son is the Chairman and Ms. Tina Young is the Event Chairperson.
