   CDC To Host U. S. Census Job Fair
 On Tuesday, July 16th, the CDC of Tampa, Inc., (Corpora- tion to Develop Communities of Tampa, Inc.), 1907 E. Hills- borough Avenue, will host a job fair where members of the community can apply for one of many positions the Bureau has to fill. Applicants will need to bring a resume and dress to impress.
The positions available includes: Recruiting As- sistants, Clerks, Office Operations, Supervisors and Census Takers. Pay ranges will vary based on the position and location but fall between $13.50 – $24.00 hourly.
Recruiters from the Cen- sus Bureau will be on hand to help you with the application process.
Here’s what you need to know - to be eligible, you must be at least 18 years old, have a valid Social Security

number, be a U. S. citizen and have a valid email address.
At the job fair, you will complete an application and answer assessment questions. (Some assessment questions are available in Spanish. How- ever, an English proficiency test may also be required.).
Men born after December 31, 1959, will need to be regis- tered with the Selective Serv-
ice System or have a qualifying exemption.
Applicants will have to pass a Census-performed criminal background check and a review of criminal records, including fingerprint- ing.
Many of these positions re- quire the applicant to be able to work flexible hours, which can include days, evenings, and/or weekends.
Ernest Coney, CEO and President of the CDC of Tampa said, “Our East Tampa residents don’t often have the opportunity like those af- forded by the Census, a well- paid position, where your work is assigned according to where you live, so it is very convenient. It is also vital that this community be properly counted, since the Census is in part, relied on to determine government funding formulas for programs.”
   Church To Host Annual ‘Serve Day’ Community Giveaway

On Saturday, July 13th, a local church will hold its an- nual community give-a-way. The event will take place at Impact Church of Tampa, 10322 N. 56th Street, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
The event is part of a global Serve Day event serv- ing others. This year, the theme for the event is, “Heart 2 Hand: Treasure Chest.”
The community give-a- way is open to members of the community. There will be household items, cloth- ing, and other items for those in need of them.
Pastors Tom and Stef Garrett serve as co-pastors of the church. Pastor Tom said, “One of the values of

Impact Church of Tampa is generosity. We believe that we serve a generous God who desires to express His generosity beyond the four walls of the church through His people.
“This year’s Community Yard Give-a-way is a sequel to last year with the same goal of sowing goodwill, favor, and positivity into the community.”
Last year, the church learned of a family who had lost everything in a fire. The give-a-way served as a huge blessing for them.
The giveaway is part of the church’s annual outreach project. There is no charge for the items.

    Meeting
Howard Blake Class Of 1967
The Howard W. Blake High School Class of 1967 will meet on Saturday, July 13, 2019, at 12 noon. The meeting will be held at the West Tampa Branch Library, 2312 W. Union St. (33607).
The agenda will include finalizing plans for the 70th Birth- day Gala to be held on December 12th and 13th. Please plan to attend this important meeting.
