   Testing Going Well In Hillsborough County

Chair of the Emergency Policy Group (EPG), and Chair of the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners, says the members of EPG are pleased with how testing in going in Hillsborough County. As of Monday (May 18th), 6,000 persons had registered to be tested this week at the 4 sites set up by the group.
Miller continues to em- phasize that the testing is free to anyone who feels like they need it – whether you have symptoms or not. And, you don’t have to have insurance coverage. But you do have to register by calling,

The EPG meets twice a week on Mondays and Thurs- days, to get updates on COVID- 19. However, starting next Thursday, May 28th, the Group will meet once a week, on Thursdays.
   Councilman Gudes Reaching Out To City Officials To Combat Teen Violence

In an effort to curtail the number of frequent shootings among African American teenagers, City Councilman Orlando Gudes is seeking help from other elected offi- cials and the community to find solutions for the recent rash of shootings.
Councilman Gudes and other African American elected officials met on Sunday (they gather occasionally to discuss issues). One of the items brought up for discus- sion was how the shootings of

African Americans have esca- lated. Gudes said he was tasked with reaching out to City officials.
“On Monday, I emailed the Mayor (Jane Castor), the Chief (Brian Dugan) and the
Major of District 3 (Calvin Johnson). I asked that we come up with a date that we can get together and work on a solution to curtail these sense- less teen shootings,” he said.
“We will be meeting on Fri- day,May22ndat1p.m.todis- cuss where to go from here.
“With their support and the support we can all get from the community, we’ll see where we can be a roadblock to what’s happening.
“We’re also asking business owners to limit the traffic around their businesses. A lot of these disagreements start in groups gathered at these busi- nesses. Once a person makes a purchase, they should have to move on – no loitering.”
