An Internist And Dentist:
Husband, Wife Doctors To Open Joint Practice
BY KENYA WOODARD Sentinel Features Writer
Drs. Watson and Martha Ducatel are partners in life, and soon, will be partners in business.
Dr. Watson Ducatel – an internist – and his wife, Dr. Martha Ducatel – a dentist – are scheduled to open their joint practice, Healthy Bodies Medical Dental Center, next month.
The practice – located in Brandon – is de- signed to be a one-stop venue that aims to im- prove patients’ overall health, said Watson.
“We want to have people have both their dental and medical needs in one location,” he said.
After years of working separately, the pair are excited to enter business together, Martha said.
“He’s a great visionary,” she said. “He’s al- ways led our family and relationship. I’m more detail-oriented. I believe we’re a great team.”
Heading up a practice is the first such ven- ture for either Dr. Ducatel. The pair met 14 years ago when they were partnered in biology class at the University of South Florida.
After graduating, both headed to Nova Southeastern University where they received their graduate degrees.
Married eight years, the couple has one daughter, Phoenix.
While they practice different medical disci- plines, combining them under one roof makes sense, said Martha.
The mouth is the “gateway” to the body and where many chronic illnesses have their origin, she said.
Having a physician and dentist in the same building allows for collaboration, providing the patient with unique customer service, she said.
The 3,500 square foot building that houses Healthy Bodies will include space for a Learn-
ing Center, where healthcare professionals will offer lectures and workshops on a variety of topics including fitness, diet and nutrition, Watson said.
The goal is to provide patients with infor- mation that puts them in control of their health, including learning how to navigate the healthcare system, he said.
The couple’s message of wellness will ex- tend beyond the four walls of the practice.
“We expect to go out into the community and be directly involved,” Watson said.

BY IRIS B. HOLTON Sentinel City Editor
On Thursday, in keeping with past traditions, U. S. Rep. Kathy Castor will make special presentations to three local community leaders. The presentations are part of her annual Congressional Record entry.
However, she will also pay special tribute to Mrs. Chloe Coney. The event will take place on Thursday, February 23rd, at 3 p.m. It will be held at the Robert W. Saunders, Sr., Public Library, 1505 N. Ne- braska Avenue.
Mrs. Coney has worked with Rep. Castor as her Dis- trict Director for the past 10 years. However, Mrs. Coney has announced plans to retire at the end of the month. She has dedicated more than 40 years of her life to serving her community.
A Tampa native, Mrs.
Coney graduated from Mid- dleton High School and contin- ued her education at Florida A & M University.
Mrs. Coney began her journey of public service more than 40 years ago. After serv- ing as Manager at the Lee Davis Neighborhood Service Center, she stepped out on faith and opened the doors to the Corporation to Develop Communities of Tampa, Inc. (CDC of Tampa, Inc.). The or- ganization, which is currently being guided by her son, Ernest Coney, Jr., will cele- brate its 25th anniversary next year.
Rep. Castor will also cele- brate Black History Month with a special presentation of statements entered into the Congressional Record. The three individuals are Ms. Deb- orah Gano, Alton White, and Ms. Theresa Manuel, posthumously.
