Organizations Prepared To Host 300 On Father’s Day

This is a free event for at least 300 fathers, grandfa- thers and guests.
Our Sisters Ours Friends and A & V Sweet Treats have united to host 300 fathers and grandfathers on Father’s Day, June 17, 2018.
This is the 4th event honor- ing fathers and grandfathers hosted by Sheilah Young- blood of Our Sisters Our Friends, a 501c3 organization. The event will be held at Mac- Farlane Park, Barksdale Senior Center, 1808 N. Lincoln Ave. (Tampa 33607), 2 p. m. – 6 p. m. Bishop Michelle B. Patty will be the Mistress of Ceremonies. Mrs. Young- blood added that comedian extraordinaire, Justin “Goldie” Goldsmith will share laughter with the men.

The University Area Com- munity Development Corpora- tion (University Area CDC) will host a Free Family Movie Night on Friday, June 22nd. The feature of the evening will be a free screening of the still popular, Marvel Studios’ Black Panther.
The doors open at 6 p. m. with the movie set to begin at 6:30 p. m. The University Area CDC is located at 14013 N. 22nd St., Tampa 33613.

The Arts Integrated Pro- gram is Now Enrolling K- 5 Students
ICan Charter Academy isn’t just another charter school, it is a village of strong support- ers for its students, families and communities. ICan Char- ter Academy will make its debut this fall and is already filling its seats during this open enrollment period.
The school, which prides it- self on providing rigorous learning in a fun academic en- vironment, expects to wel- come nearly 200 students in August. ICan will be a year- round school and looks to ac- tively engage the students and their families throughout their matriculation at the school.
ICan’s program is designed to meet the needs of the whole family. They are creating a safe, fun and enjoyable school culture to keep the students excited about learning. ICan also provides workshops and training for the families; in an effort, to help them better un- derstand the educational mat- ters affecting their students.
In addition, ICan believes that the students will progress even more as the needs of their caregivers are met; help- ing them to become stronger advocates for their students.
The four main focuses of ICan Charter Academy are to: - improve student learning
and academic achievement.
- Increase learning oppor- tunities for all students, with

special emphasis on low-per- forming students.
- Encourage the use of in- novative learning methods with the implementation of the *Innate Trade Utilization (ITU).
- Require the consistent measurement of learning out- comes.
