Belmont Heights Little League Hosted All-Stars Tournament
Little League District 13 se- lected Belmont Heights Little League (BHLL) as the host of the 2016 District 13 Little League All-Stars Tournament.
As the tournament started, things looked bleak for BHLL as the 9-10 year-old All Stars were quickly eliminated by the Progress Village and Pinecrest Little Leagues.
Next up were the 9-11-year- old All Stars, coached by Ty- rone “Lika” House, George Hill, and Quesley Fields. Dominating their age group, they quickly upset the competition, winning not only their division, but also advanc- ing to sectional play.
All eyes were then on the 12-year-old All Stars, coached by Elder A. House, Daniel Reeves, and Baraka An- drews.
Winning the first game by more than 10 points, BHLL was confident of the second win, only to be disappointed as they lost game two to the Progress Village All Stars, forc-
ing a deciding game three.
As the game began, there was standing room only as the East Tampa community rallied around BHLL for a win. Both teams fought their hardest to be the proven best District 13
had to offer.
In the end, BHLL was victo-
rious with the final score of 11- 7, advancing them to sectional play.
The BHLL 13-14 year-old All Stars, coached by A. Green, and LC Johnson, advanced to sectional play, winning un- opposed in their division.
“It’s a beautiful thing to see the community, parents, grandparents, and fans come out to cheer and support our kids,” said Sonja Alexander, Business Manager for BHLL.
“It’s been a very long time since a crowd that large was in attendance. I just feel proud of the players, but also of every- one that believes, supports, and volunteers in this pro- gram.”
