A local pastor has put her pen to paper to do more than prepare a sermon. Pastor Laytecia McKinney has now become an au- thor, publishing her first book, Living Single God’s Way – A Single Woman’s Guide to Wholeness.
Her inspiration to write the 86-page book dates back to 1990. “I was a young Christian woman, who was living and walking out a life of celibacy and holiness and had a passion and a desire to let other single women know, that you can live a prosperous, single life, without sex before marriage. I wanted to encourage the singles to take advantage of perfecting and ed- ucating themselves before entering into the covenant of marriage,” she explained.
Pastor McKinney is pastor of Victory Temple Outreach Ministries, Inc., where her book signing will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016, 11 a. m.-2 p. m. Pastor McKinney has been in the ministry for 26 years, and re- cently celebrated 10 years as pastor.
The church is located at 5819 N. 56th St., Tampa 33610. Refreshments will be served.
The 49-year-old minister was asked, what is the message she’s trying to convey to those who read the book. Her answer: “That all sin- gles become whole and emotionally healthy before marriage. In this book I am real, raw and relevant. I share some of my personal struggles as well as strong points, when I was single, that deals with everyday life issues for singles. Many say, ‘I’m single,’ but are they sin- gle for real or still soul-tied to the lovers of their past. This book will give singles the steps

On Wednesday, Hillsbor- ough County Commissioners approved the proposed planned projects as part of the half cent Discretionary Trans- portation System Sales Surtax Ordinance.
Hillsborough County Ad- ministrator, Mike Merrill, made a presentation to the Board about some of projects the tax would cover.
Commissioners voted unanimously to accept the list of proposed projects, and Commissioner Kevin Beckner got support from his colleagues on putting to- gether a Citizens Advisory Group to oversee any changes in the existing plan, and also recommended they look into other funding sources for the project.
Each Commissioner wanted to know how their dis- tricts would benefit from the
plan, and after reviewing the document, they decided to move ahead.
There will be two public hearings held before Commis- sioners vote on whether to put the request for the half cent tax hike on the November 2016 ballot.
On Tuesday April 26 from 6p.m.to8p.m.,apublic hearing will be held at East Bay High School, 7710 Old Big Bend Road in Gibsonton.
