   Police Identify Victim Of Fatal Home Invasion
  This is the location of a home invasion that left one person dead at 2409 W. State Street.
Detectives have released the identity of a man killed in a home invasion last week- end. The murder took place last Saturday at 2409 W.
State Street.
According to Tampa Po-
lice, the victim has been iden- tified as Cristian Osorio Velazquez. The 20-year-old
lived at the residence. During the robbery, Velazquez suf- fered upper body trauma. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died as a result of his injuries.
Last Saturday afternoon, officers responded to 2409 W. State Street, in reference to an injury. When officers ar- rived, they discovered that unidentified suspects had en- tered the home, robbed the occupants, and left Ve- lazquez with fatal injuries.
The suspects then fled the scene. Police have not re- leased any additional infor- mation about the murder. However, the investigation remains active.

Information can be re- ported anonymously and Crime Stoppers is offering up to $3,000 for information pertaining to the murder.
          Former Chief Judge Appointed To Oversight Board

 JUDGE MANUEL MENENDEZ, JR.
 Hillsborough County Clerk of Courts & Comptrol- ler Pat Frank named former Hillsborough Chief Judge Manuel “Manny” Menen- dez, Jr., to the All for Trans- portation Oversight Committee.
The citizens committee will oversee spending of the 1 percent sales tax for trans- portation improvements that was approved by Hillsbor- ough voters on Nov. 6. Under the charter amendment, the Clerk of Court & Comptroller appoints one member to the committee who must be a practicing attorney.
“I am thrilled that Manny Menendez has agreed to be my representa- tive on the Transportation
Oversight Committee.
“This new source of stable
funding will bring transfor- mational change to our com- munity, but only if the money is spent wisely,” Ms. Frank said.
Judge Menendez
served as Hillsborough chief judge from 2001 to 2014. During that time, he oversaw the court’s transformation from paper to digital dockets. He became a county judge in 1983 and was appointed to the circuit bench in 1984. He served as an assistant U. S. attorney from 1979 to 1983.
A graduate of the Univer- sity of Florida, College of Law, Judge Menendez is now in private practice, spe- cializing in mediation.
