   George Edgecomb Bar Association To Receive Statewide Pro Bono Award
 The George Edgecomb Bar Association, the largest pre- dominately African-American voluntary bar association in the Tampa area, is the recipient of the 2018 Voluntary Bar Associ- ation Pro Bono Award. The award, which recognizes a Florida voluntary bar that has demonstrated a significant contribution in the delivery of legal services to individuals or groups on a pro bono basis, will be presented by Chief Justice Jorge Labarga at a Jan. 25 ceremony at the Supreme Court of Florida.
The George Edgecomb Bar Association serves as a model for pro bono service by a volun- tary bar, not just reaching out to the community it serves, but also going out to churches and community centers in order to find people in need.

its Legal Redress Workshop, held in predominately minority neighborhoods, and even at a local community college, in Hillsborough County.
The workshops offer legal counseling to an underserved indigent population, helping to fulfill the bar’s mission of em-
powerment.
GEBA estimates that it has
contributed almost 2,000 hours to its 16 workshops from 2004 through last year.
The George Edgecomb Bar Association (www.mygeba. com) was founded in 1982, in memory of the late George E. Edgecomb, the first African- American county judge in Hillsborough County. The cur- rent president of GEBA is Theresa Jean-Pierre Coy; she also has served as the co- chair of the Legal Redress Workshop.
This year’s awards cere- mony, which also honors indi- vidual, circuit, law firm, young lawyer, state judicial and fed- eral judicial pro bono efforts, is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 25,at3:30p.m.atthe Supreme Court of Florida. The ceremony will be streamed live at http://wfsu.org/gavel2gavel.
       Boot Camp Will Help Health Enthusiasts Get Moving
 mosphere setting. It is a high intensity workout class where everyone would be constantly moving at rapid motions doing all forms of workout in- tervals that incorporate a mix of cardio, strength, power, speed, stamina, balance and flexibility which would target the arms, core, back and legs.
She adds, the Boot Camp’s main focus is for everyone to use their own body strength to help sculpt and tone their
overall physique which is guaranteed to produce a fit and healthy body! Exercises such as squats/lunges, sit- ups/crunches, pushups, or another alternate form of arm workout are some that will be performed which will be done in sets and repetitions.
Afterwards everyone will cool down with 15 minutes of stretches which will target the neck, arms, back, obliques, legs and abdominal muscles.

 The Boot Camp is at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park Saturday Morning
The Black Heritage 5K Walk/Run will have an option this year for participants to choose either the 5K or a fun, family fitness Boot Camp, led by fitness guru, Chinyere Sam.
The Boot Camp is perfect for all fitness levels and ages, so it’s perfect for families or companies looking for a fun way to participate in the festi- val.
Pre-registration is re- quired for the event which is Saturday morning, January 13th, 8 a. m. at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park.
