Woman Wounded In Shooting At Columbus Court Apartments
Authorities Search For Circle K Robbery Suspect
This is a surveillance photo of a man suspected of robbing a Circle K Store.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office reports that on September 26th at 3:54 p. m., a man entered the Circle K Store, 12850 Morris Bridge Road in Thonotosassa, waited for cus- tomers to leave, then went be- hind the counter and demanded money from the clerk after im- plying he had a weapon.
The suspect fled on foot after taking cash, and is described as a Black male, 30-to-39 years old, 6’2” tall, and weighing 220 to 230 pounds.
Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $3,000 for in- formation that leads to the iden- tification and arrest of the unknown suspect in this case. Anyone with information is asked to all 1-800-873-8477.
Detectives Need Help In Identifying Burglary Suspects

Johan Food Mart, 2409 East Lake Avenue. Once inside the store, the suspects stole a variety of Florida Lottery Tickets valued at $500. Shortly before the bur- glary, exterior surveillance cam- eras caught three subjects loitering outside of the business as the appeared to examine the cameras on the building.
The subjects left the area and it is believed they returned to break into the store as the inte- rior surveillance cameras cap- tured two suspects entering the rear store room before using tee shirts to cover their faces. The suspects fled the scene on foot.
One suspect is described as a Black male with tattoos on both arms up to his collarbone area, and the second suspect, also a Black male, has tattoos consist- ing of three symbols or letters in- side his right forearm.

College Student Charged With Shooting BB Gun At School Buses
At 9:16 p.m. Monday, Tampa Police officers responded to a 9- 1-1 call that a woman had been shot.
Police said the incident oc- curred at 2802 Satellite Court in the Columbus Court Apartment Complex.
Early investigation indicates several people were involved in a disturbance when gun shots were fired. One of the bullets ricocheted off a staircase wall and struck a woman who was standing on a second floor breezeway with a group of friends.
The victim, identified as 42- year-old Aquila Dinkins, was transported to a local hospital and is reported to be in stable condition with a non-life threat- ening injury.

Detectives conducted an in- vestigation at the scene and ask anyone with information to con- tact the District I Office at (813) 354-6600.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Of- fice announced the arrest of an 18-year-old college student for al- legedly shooting a BB gun at two school buses last week.
Phillip Gerard Smith, II is now facing 42 counts of aggra- vated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and three counts of shooting into an occupied vehicle.
Around 3:30 p. m. last Friday, Smith reportedly fired a BB gun at two school buses traveling south on U.S. 17/92. Surveillance footage from one of the buses cap- tured Smith’s car driving by the bus in the opposite direction, deputies said.
As Smith’s vehicle passed the bus, breaking glass was heard, deputies said.
On Wednesday, detectives re- ceived a tip about a vehicle in a

parking lot of a student housing building at Warner University. In- vestigators spoke with Smith and found a BB gun and pellets in his vehicle.
Smith was attending college on a partial basketball scholarship when he was arrested and jailed on the charges.
Drug Deal Gone Bad Ends With Murder Arrest
Detectives with the Sarasota Po- lice Department are investigating a murder that occurred Monday at 7 p. m.
Detectives responded to a single vehicle crash near the intersection of 25th Street and Orange Avenue. When they arrived, a man was found with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he later was pronounced dead.
The man was later identified as 44-year-old Daniel Ortiz.
Detectives and agents with the
United States Marshal’s Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force, with the assistance of the Tampa Police Department, arrested Diandrew L. Clarkson, 20, Wednesday at a residence in Tampa, and charged him with murder.
Witnesses told police Clarkson and Ortiz were involved in a verbal dispute over the sale of drugs. During the dispute, police said Clark- son pulled a handgun from his waistband and fired one shot into the car Ortiz was driving. Ortiz drove several hundred feet before crash- ing into a tree where officers later found him.

Earlier this week, the at- tempted murder trial of a former U. S. Marine began in Tampa. Matthew Lane Buendia is ac- cused of shooting a Hillsbo- rough County deputy. If con- victed, Buendia, now 28, could face up to life in prison.
On the night of September 30, 2011, Deputy Lyonelle De Veaux responded to a 9-1-1 call at 4747 W. Waters Avenue. The victim was Ms. Jessica Gipson, the girlfriend of the man who is alleged to have shot Deputy De Veaux within minutes of her ar- riving on the scene.
Deputy De Veaux placed Ms. Gipson in the back of her vehicle. When she turned around, Buendia was standing within five feet of her, and she or- dered him to step back. Buendia is alleged to have raised his hands and started backing away, then suddenly pulled a firearm from his pants and began shooting, po- lice said.

upper leg, and the shoulder. She was transported to a local hospi- tal and recovered from her in- juries.
After shooting, Deputy De Veaux, Buendia reportedly ran to his apartment at the Inwood Park Apartment Complex and barricaded himself inside.
Deputies used an explosive charge on the door and a robot to gain entry. Once inside, they found an unconscious Buendia in a small closet near one of the bedrooms.
Buendia was charged with 2 counts of battery, domestic vio- lence; aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer resulting in great bodily harm, and attempted first-degree murder of a law en- forcement officer. He has been housed at the Hillsborough County Jail since his arrest on Oc- tober 1, 2011.
Deputy De Veaux returned to work and was awarded the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Of- fice Silver Cross in May 2013.
Now a 9-year veteran of the department, Deputy De Veaux testified during the trial. It is ex- pected to continue into next week.

Tarpon Springs Police said a 50-year-old man used a rifle to threaten his girlfriend’s grand- daughter after a verbal dispute at his home Wednesday morn- ing.
Officers arrested Brian Everette on a charge of aggra- vated assault in the incident.
According to the report, Eri- onna L. Adams, 19, accused Everette of pointing a shotgun at her. A BB rifle was later found during a search of the residence, police said.

reportedly arguing at 427 South Disston Avenue, where Everette shares a home with Adams’ grandmother. Adams left the residence after the argu- ment, police said.
Adams told police she re- turned a short time later and re- ported that Everette pointed a shotgun at her, then went inside the home.
Officers responded to a 9-1-1 call about an armed subject at that address.
Everette exited and surren- dered to police without incident.
