Men’s Health Forum To Celebrate Its 1st Anniversary

On Friday, February 26th, organizers of the Men’s Group Health Forum will celebrate its First Anniversary. The forum will be held at the College Hill Church Of God In Christ, 414 N. 30th Street, where Super- intendent Charles Davis is the pastor.
In recognition of their first anniversary, organizers have invited several guest speakers who appeared during their first year. In addition, repre- sentatives of Casper Company McDonalds will be the special guests.
The forum will begin at 11 a.m., and those in attendance will have an opportunity to ask questions from the health care professionals.
Speakers slated to attend the forum are: Ms. Dori Blanc, Dr. Carolyn Collins, Dr. Faith Felder, Dr. Carlos Fumero, Rev. L. C. Lepard, Ms. Mikki Petit-Frere, Dr. Paul Sheehy, and Dr. Wiletha Williams.
Ms. Dori Reed Blanc
currently serves as the Hospi- tal Development Liaison, Life- Link of Florida.
After graduating from high school, Ms. Blanc continued her education at Florida A & M University, where she earned a B. S. degree in Sociology in 1991.
In her role of Hospital De- velopment Liaison, Ms. Blanc serves 15 counties in West Florida and is always looking for ways to promote organ donation.
Dr. Carolyn Collins is a registered and Licensed Clini- cal Nutrition Specialist. Dr. Collins served more than 34 years in her field before retir- ing from Tampa General Hos- pital.
She has coordinated the Cardiac Transplant Nutrition Program from its inception, accumulating more than 30 years. While in her role at the hospital, Dr. Collins as- sumed the responsibility for developing and designing the nutrition protocols for special- ized diets for the Kidney, Liver, and Lung Transplant
Program; and the Ventricular Assist Devices Program.
Dr. Collins graduated from Blake High School. She continued her education at St. Petersburg Junior College, where she earned an Associate degree. She continued her ed- ucation at Florida A & M Uni- versity, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science de- gree in Foods, Nutrition and Institutional Management. She also holds a Master of Public Administration from Golden Gate University, a Master in Food and Nutrition Science at Florida State Uni- versity, a Master of Education course at Florida A & M Uni- versity, and a Doctorate of Hu- mane Letter.
Dr. Faith Felder, a Board Certified Internist and Primary Care Physician, is a 1994 graduate of the Univer- sity of Birmingham Medical School. In addition to speak- ing English, she also speaks Spanish. Her goal is to have every patient in her care reach the ‘healthy’ age of 100 years.
Dr. Carlos Fumero is board certified in Endocrinol- ogy, Diabetes and Metabolism and is a member of the Amer- ican Association of Clinical Endocrinologist (AACE). He received his training in Inter- nal Medicine and Endocrinol- ogy at the University of South Florida, College of Medicine, where he currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Med- icine.
Rev. L. C. Lepard cur- rently serves as liaison be- tween the DACCO (Drug Abuse Comprehensive Coordi- nating Office) Outreach De- partment and the community. His role is to educate and mo- tivate members of the commu- nity about the importance of testing for HIV and HCV sta- tus.
His goal is to obtain con- necting the person with the ill-
ness with obtaining the serv- ices they are in need of receiv- ing.
A Tampa native, Rev. Lepard attended the public schools of Hillsborough County. He earned his B. A. Degree from the University of Tampa, and was awarded his Master of Theology Degree from Christian Faith College.
Ms. Mikkie Petit-Frere,
of the Spring of Tampa Bay. At the Spring, Ms. Petit-Frere is responsible for educating and promoting change in the lives, families, and communi- ties. Her role calls for her to connect victims of domestic vi- olence with healthcare organi- zations. She also trains medical professionals in the area of domestic violence.
Ms. Petit-Frere is a 10- year veteran of the social serv- ices and the not-for-profit community.
Dr. Paul L. Sheehy, Jr.,
has been a practicing podia-
trist in the Tampa Bay Area for many years. He specializes in diagnosing and treating disor- ders of the foot, ankle and lower leg.
A Tampa native, Dr. Sheehy graduated from Tal- ladega College, where he earned his B. A. Degree in Psy- chology. He continued his ed- ucation at the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine, and earned his B. S. Degree in Biological Sciences and his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine Degree. Dr. Sheehy has also taken post graduate medical courses at Morehouse College.
Dr. Wiletha Williams,
who is a Florida native who graduated from the University of Central Florida, Rollins Col- lege and Clayton College of Natural Health. She is a Certi- fied Holistic Health Practi- tioner by the American Association of Drugless Practi- tioners.
Dr. Williams is the Founder and Director of Geor- gia Holistic Center, in Atlanta. Since launching the business, she has established a success- ful practice coaching individu- als to overcome health challenges and prepare them to avoid future health risks.
Dr. Williams is recog- nized as an International Ex- pert in the field of Holistic Health by Word of Life Chris- tian Fellowship, among others.
Dr. Williams has earned the degree of Doctor of Natur- opathy (natural scientific liv- ing). She has resided in the Atlanta, Georgia area since 1984.
