'Bad Girls Club' Star Deshayla Harris Killed During Shooting In Virginia Beach
DESHAYLA HARRIS
Bad Girls Club star De- shayla Harris has been identified as one of two peo- ple who died during Friday night's shootings in Virginia Beach.
Harris was a bystander in one of the three separate shootings that happened in Virginia Beach that night, po- lice said.
"We do believe that she truly is, at this point in time, an innocent victim that was probably struck by stray gun- fire in some regards," Virginia Beach Police Chief Paul Neudigate said at a press conference, according to Peo- ple.
The first shooting of the night appeared to be caused by a fight among a group of people. While responding to the first incident, police heard shots nearby and found Har- ris, who died at the scene. According to FOX23, the death of Harris isn't believed to be related to the earlier in- cident.
Harris has been receiving tributes from her colleagues and fans around the world. Key Hamilton, one of Har- ris' co-stars on Bad Girls Club, paid tribute on Insta- gram and showed remorse for a dispute she wasn't able to resolve with her.

Officer During 2017 Protest
An all-white jury in St. Louis could not agree on a guilty verdict in the trial of three officers accused by Jus- tice Department prosecutors of violently attacking Luther Hall, a Black undercover of- ficer working during a 2017 protest, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Assistant U.S. Attor- ney Carrie Costantin told a jury that on Sept. 17, 2017, Hall was working undercover at a large protest against the acquittal of former St. Louis police officer Jason Stock- ley, KMOV4 reported.
Hall got separated from his partner and was walking through the chaotic demon- stration when he encoun- tered officers Steven Korte, Christopher Myers, Dustin Boone, Baily Col- letta and Randy Hays.
According to the Justice Department and Hall's testi- mony, all five viciously beat him so badly that he now has

His neck now has two discs replaced by titanium and the bones of a cadaver. Costantin even shared text messages from multiple offi- cers showing them admitting to attacking Hall. Yet, the jury was unable to come to an agreement on any of the charges against Korte, Myers or Boone.
Despite the pandemic preventing in-person learn- ing and producing unfore- seen educational dilemmas, Spelman College is experi- encing an unprecedented surge of applicants.
The Atlanta HBCU re- ported a historical flood after receiving over 11,000 appli- cations for the 2021-2022 ac- ademic year.
This number demon- strates a 20% increase in the applicant pool from last year and the highest in Spelman’s history, according to the school's website.
The private institution, founded in 1881 for Black
women exclusively, currently has an undergraduate popu- lation of 2,120 and was ranked 54th in 2021’s Best National Liberal Arts Col- leges, according to U.S. News & World Report.
Spelman President Mary Schmidt Campbell, Ph.D. said she’s excited about the upward trend in applications.
“The increased interest in Spelman is a testament to the College’s reputation of grad- uating Black women with a competitive edge who rise to leadership roles across indus- tries and impact positive change in their communi- ties,” she said.
