Andra Day, H.E.R., Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion and Silk Sonic were among the winners at the 2021 BET Awards, which were handed out Sunday night at a live, in-person show that felt like a re- turn to pre-pandemic norms.
Taraji P. Henson hosted the ceremony, which this year fea- tured the theme “Year of the Black Woman.” Last year, the BET Awards was one of the first major awards shows to take place after the start of the pandemic, though it took place virtually and re- motely. This year, the BET Awards returned to the live show format and welcomed back an in-person, vaccinated audience along with a red carpet. Organizers said they would work closely with Los Ange- les County to support community vaccination efforts and ensure ad- herence to COVID-19 protocols.
Henson went on to recognize several Black women in the audi- ence, including Issa Rae, Zen- daya (who was wearing a purple mask) and Jazmine Sullivan, as well as “political trailblazers” in- cluding Maxine Waters. She also gave shoutouts to Stacey Abrams and Kamala Harris.

Rihanna ‘Denied Entry To New York Bar’ Because She Didn’t Have ID
RIHANNA AND A$AP ROCKY AT THE BAR
Fans of A$AP Rocky and Rihanna might be privy to their budding romance, but apparently, a bouncer at an NYC bar- the Barcade -wasn't even familiar with their celebrity status and de- manded identification from the superstar couple before they could enter this week.
Video footage of Rocky and Rihanna presumably from last Wednesday night (June 23) began circulating on the internet. In the clip, the cou- ple is heading to an establish- ment, but they aren't allowed entry without providing ID. Either way, in the clip, Rocky and Rihanna can be seen speaking with the bar's secu-
rity at the entrance of the venue.
While the dialogue between Rocky, Rihanna and the se- curity isn't audible, a woman's voice can be heard yelling, "I don't know who you are."
A male voice is later heard saying, "You don't got none of your business cards on you, boy?"
Additional video footage shows A$AP Rocky and the Fenty Beauty pioneer later en- tering the establishment as they're seen inside playing vintage video games. Once the owner found out, he later apologized for this mistake. He said the bouncer would have been fired.
