As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, members of the community are busy making plans. Some will travel to spend the holiday with family and friends, while others choose to celebrate by prepar- ing a festive holiday meal.
However, many people use this time to reflect upon their lives and focus on the things they of which they give thanks. Some local readers shared their story with the Sentinel audience.
State
Rep. Ed
Narain
said, “I’m
thankful to
God for
my beauti-
ful wife,
children,
friends
and family. I’m especially thankful for His grace, mercy and kindness towards us.
“Lastly, I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve our com- munity in Tallahassee as a member of the Florida Legisla- ture.
“Happy Thanksgiving!”
Danny
Green said,
“At Thanks-
giving, I enjoy
being around
family and
friends and
eating the tra-
ditional
Thanksgiving
meal. In the
past 8 years, I participate in the Thanksgiving Macy’s Pa- rade.
“But this year, I am doing some different. I’m heading out to Los Angeles for a couple days and then I’m going to spend Thanksgiving in Hawaii. I think Thanksgiving is a good day to spend time with family and friends, eating a lot of food, and forget about your diet.
“But, I am thankful that I was able to prepare myself early in life to be able to live as I do now.”
Pastor Karen Sims said, “Simply put, every- thing. Even when there have been
trials, they have been on the other side of a new blessing, a new victory He had. God has been and continues to be so good in the life of my family, daily, that I can’t help but thank and praise Him.”
Rufus Lewis said, “Yes, some- thing that I learned very early in life. I thank God for His won- derful bless-
ings everyday for the many storms that He blessed me through, while serving in law enforcement with the Tampa Police Department.
“Psalm:133 ‘Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity’.”
Dr. Samuel Wright said, “I have much
for which I
can give
thanks! I am
thankful just
because... In
unlimited
ways, God
has demon-
strated that HE can, HE will and HE does. After losing my father in December 2012, my mother was in ICU and the family prayed that mother would not die right behind Dad. Thanks to GOD, HE spared her for 2-1/2 years.
“Though we lost her this year in May, we learned so much about our mother even in her sickness. The Lord proved Himself once again.
“I am thankful for my fam- ily I yet have and those awe- some friends whom GOD has placed in my path. I am thank- ful that many of my cousins will gather in Tampa for Thanksgiving for the first time and together we will give GOD thanks for being LORD of our lives and a GOD on whom we all can trust and depend!”

ing the children

Harris said, “I am thankful that God give me my parents. Be- cause of them, I am able to give instead of need. I am thankful for my friends who provided funds to erase a hunger issue for a few children at Bible Truth Academy.
Lastly, I am thankful for reaching the age of 81 with no major problems except sore knees every now and then. In other words, I am not like the man on the beach complaining about having no shoes until he met the man with no feet.”
