The Los Angeles Rams will face the Cincinnati Ben- gals in Super Bowl LVI, in In- glewood, California, on February 13.
The Rams defeated the San Francisco 49ers by a score of 20-17 in Sunday night's NFC championship game, earning the right to meet the upstart Bengals who, earlier on Sunday, de- feated the favored Kansas City Chiefs 27-24 in overtime in the AFC title game.
And what games they were, both nail-biters to the bitter end, with some roller- coastering along the way -- much like the divisional- round playoffs earlier.
The Rams were tied with the 49ers at 17-17 before scor- ing with just 1:46 minutes left

Patrick Mahomes sees that the Kansas City Chiefs did not meet the “standard” following the AFC Champi- onship game elimination at the hands of the Cincinnati Bengals. "I take the blame for losing this one,” stated Mahomes.
At one point during the AFC title game between the Chiefs and Bengals, it seemed as if Mahomes and company were going to cruise to a blowout win. However, Bengals quarter- back Joe Burrow had other plans in mind, as he guided the team back from a 21-3 deficit and the eventual win in the overtime period.
Overall, Mahomes be- lieves that simply playing in the AFC title game is not enough, which he touched on during his post-game press conference.
“The leaders on this team know this isn’t our stan- dard,” Mahomes said.
The Chiefs turned around their campaign following the notable 3-4 start to the sea- son. Even as they mounted an eight-game winning streak and notched a pair of home playoff wins, Ma- homes very well sees that this was an underwhelming finish to the Chiefs’ season.

As is expected to be the case on the defensive side of
the ball, the Chiefs will have plenty of offseason dilemmas regarding just which free agents on offense they should look to re-sign. For one, wide receiver Byron Pringle will be out of a con- tract in March.
It will be noteworthy to see on the route Chiefs gen- eral manager Brett Veach aims to take in the free agency period later this year.
in the game. Sean McVay is leading the Rams to their sec- ond Super Bowl in his five years as head coach of the team. Former Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, in his first season with Los Angeles, is heading to his first NFL champi- onship game.
Both McVay and the
49ers Kyle Shanahan were hired in 2017 as head coaches for their respective teams.
The Rams will play the Super Bowl in their home SoFi Stadium, the second consecutive home team to host the championship. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were the first to do so last year at Raymond James Stadium.
