Michelle Watkins for her dedication to the Seniors at the Progress Village Senior Nutrition Center. For the past 5 years, Michelle has offered fun and frolic to our seniors with her dance and exercise routines several days a week.

Senior Day In The Park
Seniors will enjoy their day in the park on Friday, March2nd9:30a.m.–1p. m., McFarland Park, 1801 North Lincoln Avenue.
There will be games and entertainment, free food, vendors, raffles and t-shirts.
Sankofa: A Black Heritage Celebration Saturday, February 24, 2018 1 P. M. - 4 P. M. Robert W. Saunders, Sr. - Ada T. Payne Community Room A & B
Sankofa is an Akan sym- bol meaning “Go back and retrieve.” This program will feature African drumming, dance, spoken word and a va- riety of other performances and presentations. Join us for this jubilant event.

Join Storyteller Tamara Green as she walks through African-American history with story and song.
This performance will also feature student Story- telling Ambassadors from the Hillsborough County Story- telling Festival.

 Spectrum Bay News 9 Honors Black History Month
  In honor of Black His- tory Month, Spectrum Bay News 9 has been airing a special series of reports ded- icated to exploring the rich history and telling the sto- ries of African-American his- tory in the Tampa Bay Area on Mondays and Thursdays throughout the month of February.
Spectrum Bay News 9’s Black History Month series features Clara Frye, a nurse in the early 1900s who moved to Tampa and opened her home to African-Ameri- cans and started the pri- vately operated Clara Frye Hospital, where no one was turned away for the lack of money.
The series also features an in-depth look into 76-
year-old Charles Luster’s collection of African- Ameri- can artifacts that are now on display at the African Amer- ican Heritage Museum in Bartow.
The series will also highlight Cowbros, a fel- lowship of African-American cowboys who help spread goodwill as they keep a part of their history alive.
And, a story on the Lau- rel Street Bridge’s name change to the Fortune Tay- lor Bridge, in order to keep the history of African-Amer- icans alive in Tampa.
