Pastors On Patrol Is Helping The Bahamas OvercomeTheir Own 9/11
At a time when people re- member the terrorism that struck the U. S. 18 years ago, the Bahamas are facing the terror that Hurricane Dorian created during the Labor Day weekend.
That’s why Pastors on Pa- trol (POP) member churches are teaming up with the Pro- gressive National Baptist Convention to help people who have lost everything.
As POP Chairman W. J. Favorite puts it: “We talk about being brothers in Christ. Now, we have a moral responsibility to prove that we are truly family in helping our brothers to sur- vive.”
The greatest need is money, because it can ad- dress specific needs in spe- cific ways. It can also help create self-sufficiency for people who feel anything but self-sufficient in the wake of Dorian. Those who are able to help in this way can either mail checks made out to “Disaster Relief Fund for the Bahamas” to Beulah Baptist Church, 1006 West Cypress Street, Tampa, Florida 33606, or drop off their do- nations in person. Dona- tions are also being sought by
REV. DR. W. JAMES FAVORITE
POP member churches dur- ing their Sunday Services.
Pastor Favorite adds that, “this issue is broader than Pastors on Patrol, its in- dividual churches, and even the Tampa Bay community. The heartache that Dorian wrought tests our commit- ment to one another in the brotherhood of the family of God. I am confident that we will rise to the challenge.”
More information is available about the Disaster Relief Fund for the Bahamas by visiting the Progressive National Baptist Convention web site at www.pnbc.org or by calling (202) 396-0558.
