The Most Important Thoughts About the Verdict Regarding Young Lyfe’s Murder . . .
 BY LIFE MALCOLM
As I stated numerous times, I have never believed that the system can solve our community’s problems.
Iwasnotsonaïveastobe- lieve that my son’s murder was some kind of magnificent event that would mystically bestow upon the system the ability, or the willingness, or both, to solve problems in our community that have existed so long.
I’ve always said that we must protect and defend our- selves. Check the record. Check my resume.
Young Lyfe’s murder, while tragic, brought out the best in our community, kept our community safe from one killer, for over a year, and af- firmed my belief.
I knew the person who killed Young Lyfe, before the State did, because of our com-
munity.
It should be understood
that it was our community, Young Lyfe’s community, that exposed Young Lyfe’s killer.
This action by our commu- nity not only affirmed that we can solve our own problems, it dispelled two vicious lies run- ning rampant in our commu- nity.
ONE. It dispelled the lies that our community won’t ex- pose bandits, who do us harm, and the lie our community doesn’t expose those who do us harm because we have some kind of a “No Snitch” policy.
Clearly, the community will expose bandits among us. Such bandits, however, often don’t get exposed for one of two reasons, or a combina-
tion of both:
The people who know the
info about the bandits don’t

trust the people who want to, or need to know the informa- tion, so they don’t tell.
Many people in our com- munity don’t trust the police, or any other State representa- tive, so we don’t talk to ‘em. That’s that.
The reason people don’t trust some community mem- bers is because many of us are strangers. We don’t know our neighbors’ names, but when a
bandit harms us we want our neighbors’ help.
We don’t speak to people, in our community, when we pass them, but when some- thing happens to us, we want them to speak up. That’s wrong.
What’s right is establishing a relationship with people in our community that will com- pel them to want to help you, because they know you, and they trust you.
TWO. People in our com- munity don’t want to be la- beled a snitch. No stand-up person does.
Many people, however, have embraced a misguided definition of the word, that was developed by enemy propaganda.
Here’s the scoop.
Snitching is a person work- ing with the State, or giving evidence to the State, or both, in hopes of getting some kind of reward, or relief from the
State.
Snitching IS NOT a mem-
ber of a community exposing bandits in the community, to other members of that com- munity, if efforts to protect and defend that community.
When the community ex- posed my son’s killer, that wasn’t snitching.
It was a community effort to rid our community of ver- min that do our community harm.
It is critical to understand that our community’s work put this guy in jail from No- vember 30, 2016-January 2018, keeping us safe from that particular killer, for over a year.
I am convinced that the State returned my son’s killer back into the hands of the peo- ple most capable of making sure he never kills again.
I hope I’m right.
