Dr. Dre's Estranged Wife Accused Of 'Decimating' Company Bank Account Amid $1B Divorce
DR. DRE AND HIS WIFE
Eddie Murphy & Dave Chappelle Win Big At Creative Arts Emmy Award
LOS ANGELES, CA – Dr. Dre and Nicole Young were married for roughly 24 years and, by all outward appear- ances, seemed to have it made. But behind the scenes, their re- lationship was apparently crumbling, which led to Young filing for divorce in June.
As the former couple strug- gles over the famed producer’s $1 billion fortune, thing have taken yet another contentious turn. According to TMZ, Young has been accused of “decimating” the bank account of Record One recording stu- dio, a company she and Dre co-founded in 2015. Record One is operated by an LLC
along with co-owner Larry Chatman, who claims Young pilfered $363,571.85 from the company last month.
Attorney Ed McPherson, who reps the LLC that operates Record One, fired off a letter to Young’s legal team which in- cluded a copy of the exorbitant check Young wrote to herself. The letter accuses Young of “blatant and unjustifiable criminal embezzlement of cor- porate funds,” as well as a breach of her fiduciary duties.
But Young’s lawyer Bryan Freedman reportedly be- lieves it’s all a publicity stunt to take the spotlight off Dre who was recently accused of hiding assets from his soon-to-be ex.
Forty years after he burst to stardom on Saturday Night Live, Eddie Murphy won his first Emmy Award on Saturday (Sept. 19) for outstanding guest actor in a comedy series for his return to the show. For such a major star, Murphy has a surprisingly spare awards cabinet. He has won one Grammy (for Eddie Mur- phy: Comedian, 1983). He was nominated for an Oscar for Dreamgirls (2006), but did not win.
Maya Rudolph won out- standing guest actress in a comedy series for her appear- ance on that same Murphy- hosted episode of SNL in which she played Senator (and now VP nominee) Kamala Harris. Rudolph also won a second Emmy this year for outstanding character voice- over performance for Netflix’s Big Mouth. These are her first Emmys.
