Local Resident Named One Of 2021’s Most Influential Black Corporate Directors
Honored for Corporate Service
Lawrence Hamilton isn’t the loudest person, but many value his opinions. The native of Ypsilanti, Mich., now Hillsborough County res- ident, isn’t a chef but has consistently shown he knows the right ingredients to make a company better.
It is one of the reasons Hamilton was named to Savoy magazine’s “2021 Most influential Black Execu- tives in Corporate America.”
Savoy is a leading magazine that focuses on fashion, business, technol- ogy and style. The magazine does an annual list identifying executives who serve on corporate boards who are not just Black, but who also impact policy and activities around these companies.
LAWRENCE HAMILTON ...Named 2021 Most Influential Black Executives in Corporate America
The 64-year-old Hamilton has served as an Executive Coach and Ad- junct Faculty with the Center for Cre-
ative Leadership at Eckerd College since September 2008, and also man- ages a private executive coaching and HR consulting practice, Hamilton Consulting.
The honor came as Hamilton is a member of the Board of Directors of Traece Medical Concepts, in complex bunion surgery. Hamilton has also been a member of the board of direc- tors of Wright Medical Group, Inc., and HomeBanc Mortgage.
Hamilton holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Fisk University, an MPA in Labor Policy from the Univer- sity of Alabama and has an educa- tional specialist degree in Human Resource Development from George Washington University. He is also a certified senior professional in Human Resources and holds the Cer- tified Compensation Professional
designation from the American Com- pensation Association.
It was in human resources that Hamilton first cut his teeth, working with companies such as Ford Motor Company, Bristol Myers and was the Chief Human Relations Officer for Tech Data, a technology distributor.
“It’s a testament to God,” Hamil- ton said. “If you don’t have a test, you don’t have a testimony.
“Promises He will keep, if you re- main faithful,” he continued. “I’m very fortunate.”
Hamilton, a member of the Tampa Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., has two children, Lauren and Lawrence, with his late wife, Karen. On New Year’s Eve, Hamilton celebrated his one-year anniversary with the former Lisa Banks.
