Black Panther Is The First Film To Be Shown In Saudi Arabia In 35 Years; 3rd Highest Grossing Film In U.S. History
Tiffany Haddish’s First HBO Project Will Be ‘Unsubscribed’
Black Panther will be the first film released in Saudi Arabia in 35 years.
It will be released by Disney and its distribution partner in the Middle East, Italia Film.
According to Variety, a gala will be held for the screening, taking place in "a new theatre with more than 600 leather seats located in the King Ab- dullah Financial District in a building originally intended to be a symphony concert hall, with orchestra and balcony levels and marble bath- rooms."
Movie theaters were banned in the early 1980s once the country adopted ultra-conser- vative standards in 1979.
AMC wants to open 40 cin- emas in Saudi Arabia in 5 years and 100 by 2030.
The ‘Black Panther’ cast has lots to smile about after top- ping the box office for the 5th weekend. Tomb Raider was #2.
Saudi Arabia's changing, more progressive culture, led
by the Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister of the country, Mohammed bin Salam was recently high- lighted on 60 Minutes during the Stormy Daniels episode.
Another new Black Pan- ther milestone.
The Ryan Coogler-di- rected film is now the No. 3 highest-grossing film in United States (not adjusted for inflation).
With $659.3 million, it is only third to Star Wars: The Force Awakens at No. 1 with $936.7 million and Avatar at No. 2 with $760.5 million.
Worldwide, Black Panther recently ousted Frozen from the global, all-time Top 10, as the new No. 10 with $1.29 bllion.
The first project under Tiffany Haddish's first-look deal at HBO has been set.
She's exec producing Un- subscribed, described as "as an examination of female blackness, beauty, and identity through a behind-the-scenes look at the Instagram hustle."
Xosha Roquemore and Danielle Henderson are the writers, and will also be exec producing.
No word yet on who would star.
Haddish first signed her first-look with HBO in Janu- ary under her She Ready pro- duction banner.
It is one of many project she has in the works, so many that we might have lost track of some.
