SAN DIEGO – A Clearwa- ter native and 2005 Country- side High School graduate is serving currently in the U. S. Navy aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Is- land.
Petty Officer 2nd Class Jermell Marshall is a Fire Controlman aboard the am- phibious assault ship operat- ing out of San Diego. A Fire Controlman is responsible for maintaining the weapons sys- tems on the ship.
Petty Officer 2nd Class Marshall has military ties with family members who have previously served and is honored to carry on the fam- ily tradition.

As a member of one of the U. S. Navy’s most relied-upon assets, Petty Officer 2nd Class Marshall and other Makin Island sailors know they are part of a legacy that will last beyond their life- times.
Makin Island, one of the Navy’s most advanced and largest amphibious ships, is designed to deliver Marines and their equipment where they are needed to support a variety of missions ranging
