Family Empowerment Conference Planned
To Meet With Legislative Delegation

Ms. Tamara Sham- burger, Hillsborough County Public School Board Member for District 5, will host a Fam- ily Empowerment Conference. The Conference will be held on Saturday, August 26th, be- ginning at 10 a.m., at Middle- ton High School, 4801 N. 22nd Street.
Ms. Shamburger said the focus of the Conference is effective parental engagement that is critical to helping close the achievement gap and the disparity in communities.

The FAMU National Alumni Association and the National Government Rela- tions Committee will meet with the Hillsborough County Legislative Delegation on Sat- urday, August 19, 2017. The 10:30 a. m. ‘Meet and Greet’ willbeheldattheH.O.P.E. Center, 4902 N. 22nd St. (across from Middleton High School).
This summer, FAMU’s Board of Trustees approved the University’s 2018-2019 Legislative Budget Requests, which will be submitted to the Florida Board of Governors
and the Florida Legislature in the coming months. The total amount requested is $24.1 million. The National Alumni Association (NAA) is focused to support the University’s ef- forts to help students excel in their studies, graduate on time and secure employment in their fields of study.

The Financial Seminar is a series of FREE professional business seminars hosted by the Tampa Bay Black Heritage Festival and the Entrepreneur Collaborative Center. The se- ries takes place throughout the summer and fall months with the larger seminar taking place during the annual Tampa Bay Black Heritage Festival in January.
The Tampa Bay Black Her- itage Entrepreneur Advisory Board is comprised of local professional business owners who encompass a vast amount of knowledge and skills to help better your busi- ness.
