Defense On Sunday
After the Tampa Bay Buc- caneers beat the Miami Dol- phins in Week Five, Head Coach Bruce Arians told his players to hold off celebrating the win until the following so they could focus on a trip to Philadelphia on a very short week. Now the Buccaneers are returning from Tampa with two victories to savor over a long weekend that will pro- vide very valuable time to rest, recover and recharge. The Bucs will face rookie Justin Fields and Khalid Mack on Sunday at 4:25 p.m.
Tampa Bay's 28-22 down- ing of the Eagles at Lincoln Fi- nancial Field was actually their third straight win, all in the span of 12 days...or, to be more exact, days and nights. The Bucs started the run with an emotional Sunday night win in New England by a tight 19-17 score, went home to bury the Dolphins, 45-17, then won their third prime-time in as many tries this season in Philly.
Arians gave the players four straight days off before they have to get back to work next Tuesday and begin preparing for the Chicago Bears in Week Seven. Chicago heads into the weekend with a 3-2 record and a home game

against the Green Bay Pack- ers, who are one up on them in the NFC North standings. After that game, the Bears will bring either a 4-2 or 3-3 mark with them to Raymond James Stadium for the seventh meet- ing between these two teams in the last eight seasons.
The Buccaneers still have a bitter taste in their mouths from last year's game against the Bears, which was another prime-time road affair on a Thursday night, but not one that ended as well as this year's trip to Philadelphia. Tampa Bay lost that game, 20-19, at Soldier Field in a game riddled with penalties, turnovers and mental mis- cues. It proved to be a turning point for the Super Bowl- bound Buccaneers, who played much cleaner football the rest of the way in 2020.
TOM BRADY
Tom Brady now has more than double the career passing yards of Hall of Famer Joe Montana is just ridiculous.
Brady’s latest perform- ance? Going 34-of-42 for 297 yards and a pair of touchdown passes in a 28-22 win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Thurs- day night.
At 44 years old, in his 22nd NFL season, Brady leads the NFL in passing yards and touchdown passes.
Cam Newton Gets Vaccinated Hoping It Will Help Him Land On An NFL Roster
CAM NEWTON
After grabbing the NFL media’s attention over his un- vaccinated status in the offsea- son, Cam Newton has announced that he is now fully vaccinated and ready to join a team.
The news was first re- ported by NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo and comes as Newton is still vying for his spot on an NFL roster.
Newton’s unvaccinated status was discussed upon his exit from the New England Pa- triots in August ahead of final roster cuts.
Seattle Seahawks defen- sive end Darrell Taylor was immobilized and taken off the field on a stretcher in the fourth quarter of Sunday night's 23-20 overtime loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Coach Pete Carroll, while not specifying Taylor's injury, said after the game that preliminary CT scans were clear and that while there were more tests to fol- low, Taylor was moving his extremities.
"That's a really good pre- liminary report," Carroll said. "We're thrilled about that news."
A team spokesperson said Taylor will fly back to Seattle with the team. Taylor was down near midfield for several minutes before he was immo- bilized on a stretcher, with his helmet still on and his face- mask removed. Both teams circled around Taylor as he received medical attention.
"He was so mad at having to be taken off the field like that," Carroll said. "He wanted to get up. They would- n't let him do it because they had to do all the secure meth- ods to take care of him and all that. He didn't want any part of that."
Bucs' Long List Of
Injuries At CB
The Tampa Bay Bucca- neers were already missing both of their top two corners heading into Thursday night’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles, but they also lost Richard Sherman on the first drive of the game to a hamstring injury, one that would knock him out for the rest of the night.
Bucs head coach Bruce Arians told the media Fri- day that it’s still too early to tell just how long Sherman will be out.
“Yeah, he hasn’t gotten in the MRI tube yet, so we don’t know anything really [about] how severe it is,” Arians

said.
As for who might replace
Sherman in the starting lineup, with both Carlton Davis, III and Sean Mur- phy-Bunting still on in- jured reserve until further notice, Arians offered mul- tiple candidates.
