Victim Found In SUV Dies Of Fatal Gunshot Wound

Man Forces Way Into Home, Opens Windows To Watch Victim

Deputies with the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a man after he allegedly forced his way into a woman’s home. They are also asking if any other victims are present in the community to contact them.
According to police, on June 5th, 31-year-old Anthony Gar- cia is accused of having opened the rear sliding door to an apart- ment in the Retreat at Crosstown Apartments in Riverview.
Once inside, he reportedly en- tered the victims’s bedroom and opened the curtains, before run- ning back outside. The victim, who was in the shower, heard someone in her apartment. She quickly covered herself and came out of the shower.
The victim told police she ob- served the silhouette of a large man outside of her bedroom win- dow. The victim identified Gar- cia from a photo pack and police found his fingerprints and ob- tained an arrest warrant for him.
Garcia was charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling during a state of emergency and voyeurism.
Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said, “This was a terrifying experience for this victim and we are currently investigating other similar inci- dents in the same area.
“Mr. Garcia matches the de- scription in those incidents and additional charges are pending. We believe we got the man that was violating these residents’ pri- vacy and their peace of mind.”

Stranger Charged
        The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is currently in- vestigating a fatal shooting. The incident took place early Sunday near the intersection of 131st Av- enue and N. 15th Street.
According to police, after re- ceiving several 9-1-1 calls, deputies were dispatched to the location at approximately 12:41 a.m. When they arrived, they dis- covered an unidentified man in- side a dark-colored SUV. He was suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. Hillsborough County Fire Rescue also re- sponded to the scene and trans- ported the man to a local area hospital, where after attempting life-saving measures. He later
died as a result of his injuries.
Sheriff Chad Chronister
said, “This does not appear to be a random act and there is no threat to the public at this time.
“Someone out there knows what happened and I urge you to contact the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office with any infor- mation that could help our de- tectives solve this case.”

Police have arrested a man after he allegedly attempted to kidnap a young child. The inci- dent took place Saturday evening.
According to the Tampa Po- lice Department, the family was staying at the Hampton Inn, 4817 W. Laurel Street. The victim and her three young children were inside the room when a stranger walked in.
The man attempted to grab a 4-year-old child off of the bed, but the mother, who was in the bathroom, heard the commotion and came out. The man began to fight with the woman for the child.
Guests across the hall heard the woman screams, opened their door, and brought the woman and her children inside their room.
However, the man followed and began fighting with the other residents as well. He then pulled the child into the hall as the mother was holding onto him, police said.

off-duty Palm Beach County Deputy was on the scene. He im- mediately intervened and held the man until Tampa Police offi- cers arrived.
The man was identified as Desmond Johnson, of Rose Hill, North Carolina. Johnson was charged with two counts of burglary with battery and one count of attempted kidnapping. He was transported to the Hills- borough County Jail.
Police said the family does not know Johnson and has no connection to him.

A member of the Florida Highway Patrol discovered a gunshot victim on the side of the road while checking on the damaged car.
Arrest Made In Shooting Of Off-Duty FWC Officer

    An 18-year-old man is recov- ering after being shot early Mon- day. He was discovered on Interstate 4 near the E. 21st Street exit by a Florida Highway Patrolman.
According to police, it was around 3 a.m., when the trooper on routine patrol observed a ve- hicle that appeared to have been involved in an accident. The trooper then discovered the driver lying on the side of the road near the car. He was suffer- ing from a gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospi- tal in serious condition.
Upon closer inspection of the vehicle, police determined that it
was riddled with gunshots on the driver’s side. It was also de- termined that the vehicle had been traveling westbound on In- terstate 4 when the shooting took place, resulting in the crash.
Investigators also believe that another person was inside the vehicle at the time of the shooting. They believe that per- son fled the scene on foot.

HENDRY COUNTY, Fla. — The Hendry County Sheriff’s Of- fice has arrested a person in connection to the death of an FWC Officer in LaBelle.
Julian Keen, Jr., 30, was found fatally shot Sunday morning. Authorities said Keen was assisting at the scene of a hit-and-run.
While giving help, the offi- cer was shot and killed at the scene. Eliceo Hernandez, 20, was arrested for the shooting on
Monday.
Deputies say Keen and an-
other man had witnessed a reckless driver.
Keen got into his truck and followed the driver, according to authorities. They say after both Keen and Hernandez stopped, Keen confronted Hernandez and was later shot.
Hernandez was arrested and charged with negligent homicide and is currently being held on $500,000 bond.
