Teenager Injured In Drive-By Shooting
Woman Arrested Following Police Standoff

A 61-year-old Tampa woman was arrested and charged after a police standoff on Friday. The standoff began at a doctor’s of- fice in West Tampa.
The woman was later identi- fied as Ms. Kathleen Martin, of Seffner.
According to police, a 9-1-1 call was received shortly after 10:30 a.m., at a doctor’s office at 720 W. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Blvd. the caller said a woman entered the office and had a gun. She reportedly told everyone to get out of the office and fired one round into the ceiling.
Police arrived at the scene within 4 minutes and observed a woman in a Lexus leaving the parking lot, heading north- bound on Armenia Avenue.
Police said the woman stopped her vehicle near 4603 N. Armenia shortly before 11 a.m. Police arrived and at- tempted to make contact with the woman. The standoff took place at this location.
During the standoff, the woman was observed sitting in the car, pointing the gun at her head and under chin. She then began driving, going south- bound on Armenia.
At 11:3o a.m., a Tampa Police cruiser pushed the Lexus from behind, guiding if off the road into a grassy area along Arme- nia, just south of Columbus Drive. A Tampa Police SUV also pulled in front of the Lexus, blocking it in.
Police evacuated nearby buildings at that location. Once again, the woman was observed point a gun at her head. The standoff continued until 1:18 p.m., when the woman opened the door and was apprehended by police. She received medical attention at the scene, but was not injured during the standoff.
The investigation into the case is continuing. Police had not charged Ms. Martin as of press time.
Police Investigate Shooting Of Bicyclist
A 14-year-old was shot dur- ing a drive-by shooting Satur- day evening. The shooting took place in East Tampa.
According to police, the shooting took place in the 8700 block of N. 48th Street. A group of people were stand- ing in front of a duplex when a dark colored sedan drove past. The car then returned and sev- eral shots were fired from it after as it drove past the crowd the second time.
Jayqwon L. Jones, 14, of
Tampa, was struck by one of the bullets as he stood in the front yard of 8724 N. 48th Street. The bullet struck the teenager in the lower body and he was transported to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
Police said Jones’ injuries do not appear to be life-threat- ening.
The vehicle from which the shots were fired fled on N. 48th Street, following the shooting.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting of a man that took place early Monday. The vic- tim, who received life-threaten- ing injuries, had not been identified at press time.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting took place around 2:15 a.m., Monday, at the cor- ner of Waters Avenue and Pinehurst Drive, in Town N’ Country. When deputies ar- rived at the scene, they located the victim, who suffered a gun- shot to the upper part of his body. The victim was trans-
ported to a local hospital. Deputies also observed the possible suspect who was at- tempting to flee the scene in a vehicle. As the deputies at- tempted to take the suspect into custody, he allegedly crashed into two patrol cars, causing severe damage to both
vehicles.
But, the deputies were not in-
jured. Deputies believe the shooting may be drug related. The names of the victim or the suspect had not been released a press time. The investigation is continuing.
Four Charged With Armed Burglary

Four individuals have been taken into custody in connec- tion with an armed burglary. They are facing several charges.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office, around 5 p.m., on October 6, four individuals broke into a home, and once inside, kicked in the locked door to the mas- ter bedroom. The suspects ransacked the bedroom and fled the scene with several items including a revolver, a shotgun jewelry, clothing, and other items.
The following day, the sus- pects were identified and taken into custody. The sus- pects were identified as Nicholas Rabuano Fisher, 19, who was charged with armed burglary of a dwelling, 2 counts of grand theft of a firearm, grand theft, and pos-

A 21-year-old University of South Florida football player was arrested on Sunday and charged in connection with discharged a firearm.
Around 4 a.m., Sunday, po- lice on the campus of the Uni- versity of South Florida responded to the area of Cres- cent Hill parking garage in ref- erence to gunshots. A witness told police gunshots had been heard inside the parking garage, which were followed by screeching tires.
When the officers entered the garage, they did not find anyone in the area and noth- ing was taking place.
However, a detailed investi- gation of the garage revealed that a parked car contained an open gun case and a box of ammunition. The gun box and ammunition were in plain sight. The investigating offi- cers also observed several spent shell casings on the ground next to the vehicle, and it appeared that several shots had been fired.
Police continued their in- vestigation and determined that the outside of Holly D Residence Hall had been struck by gunfire.

was charged with armed bur- glary of a dwelling and 2 counts of grand theft of a firearm.
Devaughn Robinson- Santa, 20, was charged with armed burglary of a dwelling, 2 counts of grand theft of a firearm, and grand theft.
Ms. Rachael Woodruff,
21, was charged with dealing in stolen property, armed bur- glary of a dwelling, grand theft, and 2 counts of grand theft of a firearm.
Several items belonging to the victim were reportedly lo- cated at the home of Robin- son-Santa and recovered.
Police said the revolver and shotgun had been buried in the backyard of the home of the Fisher brothers.
BENJAMIN KNOX
question was registered to Benjamin Knox, of Deland. Police determined that Knox was a student at the university and located him in his room.
Knox was taken into cus- tody and police recovered a handgun believed to have been used in the shooting incident. Knox has been charged with possession or discharge of a firearm on campus, and shoot- ing into an occupied dwelling.
Knox is a freshman at the university and a member of the football team. He has been suspended from the team.
At press time, Knox was being held at the Hillsborough County Jail under a $15,000 bond.
