Aaron’s House Hosts 4th Annual Fundraiser
BY IRIS B. HOLTON Sentinel City Editor
Recently, Executive Di- rector Pamela Robinson and her staff held their 4th Annual Fundraiser for Aaron's House. The event took place on May 5th.
Ms. Robinson said, “Each year we have fundrais- ers the 1st week of May, which is Mental Health
Awareness Month.”
This year the keynote
speaker was life coach and motivational speaker, Tony A. Gaskins, Jr. Dr. Vasshaun O. Williams, a psychiatrist with Gracepoint, shared comments with the attendees on how to recog- nize signs of mental illness, and what procedure should be taken once the signs are recognized. He advised
everyone to get help from places like Aaron's House, GracePoint, Nami, and the Crisis Center.
Dr. Williams further shared examples of people of all ages struggling with men- tal issues. He instructed those in attendance to “look in the mirror and that is what mental illness looks like, i.e. it has no respect of person and anyone can be affected
during any point of their life.”
Once again, Aaron’s House recognized individu- als in the community who they consider “legends.”
They recognized others this year during the program. This year’s honorees were: Darryl and Tammy “Tampa Bay Tammy" Johnson and "gave them their flowers," it too was awe-
some.
The program consisted of
the welcome by Founder and Executive Director Pamela Robinson and Co-Chair- man Donald Robinson. Ms. Cloe Cabrera served as the Mistress of Ceremony. Honorable Mention, Dr. Melissa Bailey, and Ernest Collins provided the music. (Photos by Julia Jackson)
