The Tampa Chapter Of The Links, Inc. Host Successful Read-In At Sheehy Elementary
The Tampa Chapter of The Links, In- corporated hosted another successful Read-In. The organization celebrated 10 years of hosting the Read-In at Paul L. Sheehy, M. D. Elementary School.
Citizens and professionals from all walks of life took advantage of the oppor- tunity to read to an enthusiastic group of elementary students in grades K-5. Link
Kay Andrews is President of the Tampa Chapter Links Phyllis Lee, was the Read-In Chair and Marsha Lewis Brown was Co-Chair.
The Royal Jewels, the group of 5th grade girls mentored by the The Links, served as hostesses and escorts, leading each reader to his or her assigned class- room with the selected book for that age-
group. After the reader was completed, the Jewel escorted him or her back to the Media Center for breakfast provided by Casper MacDonald’s Restaurant.
A treat for the Royal Jewels was an op- portunity to enjoy breakfast after the readers had departed and be read to, too. Each Jewel was gifted with a signed copy of the book written and illustrated by
Anastasia Maglorie – Naledi Star Road.
Ms. Maglorie, just one year out of college, shared with the attentive group of girls that writing the book started out as a homework assignment. Her teacher was so impressed with it that she asked her to have it published. She is now working on a second book. (Photos by BRUNSON)
