TBX Forum: Community Impacts
The Tampa Bay Express project, called TBX, involves adding express toll lanes to In- terstate 275 and Interstate 4, beginning at Bearss Avenue and extending to Pinellas County. The University of South Florida Office of Com-
LENA YOUNG-GREEN, President of the Tampa Heights Junior Civic Association
munity Engagement and Part- nerships and the USF Depart-
ments of sociology and An- thropology, are partnering with the Tampa Heights com- munity to put on the TBX Forum: Community Impacts panel discussion on June 14th from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Tampa Heights community Center. This is the second time USF has put on an educational forum regarding the TBX plan.
Lena Young-Green, President of the Tampa Heights Junior Civic Associa- tion, said, “On the heels of the success of the TBX forum held at USF in April, we want to continue to draw upon the ex- pertise of USF and from our community to ensure that we
educate others about the im- pacts of the proposed project.
“It is incumbent on every- one to have better transporta- tion planning for the future of the Tampa Bay area. We are fortunate to have a major aca- demic institution with whom to partner.”
Panelists will include aca- demics, local experts, and a FDOT representative. The top- ics of the forum will include an overview of the history and impact of highway construc- tion in Tampa’s core urban neighborhoods and the cur- rent plan for widening the in- terstate and adding variable rate toll roads.
