President Greets 108-Year-Old
Lester Townsend has done a lot in his 108 years, but meeting the first black Presi- dent takes the cake. Townsend briefly met with President Barack Obama and was visibly in awe. He proudly declared himself as, “the grandson of a slave shak- ing hands with the President of the United States.”

Townsend wasn’t the only
one taken aback. President Obama was in disbelief over the man’s age. He even asked what’s his secret for looking so young? What is he eating? Townsend jokingly revealed, “Whatever they bring me,” which caused the President to double over in laughter.
President Obama ‘Race Between Clinton And Sanders Is Over’

Tuesday, President Obama called both Secretary Clin- ton and Senator Sanders. The President congratulated both candidates for running in- spiring campaigns that have energized Democrats, brought a new generation of Americans into the political process, and shined a spotlight on important policy ideas aimed at making sure our economy and our pol- itics work for everybody, not just those with wealth and power.
The President congratu- lated Secretary Clinton for
securing the delegates neces- sary to clinch the Democratic Nomination for President. Her historic campaign inspired mil- lions and is an extension of her lifelong fight for middle-class families and children.
The President thanked Senator Sanders for energiz- ing millions of Americans with his commitment to issues like fighting economic inequality and special interests' influence on our politics.
In addition, at Senator Sanders' request, the Presi- dent and Senator Sanders will meet at the White House on Thursday.
First Lady Announces The First ‘United State Of Women’ Summit
The First Lady, Michelle Obama, in partnership with the White House Council On Women & Girls, together with the Department of State, the Department of Labor, the Aspen Institute and Civic Na- tion, is convening the first United State of Women Sum- mit. The First Lady an- nounced the summit with a post on Medium Monday morning, and a promotional video featuring: Oprah Win- frey, Indra Nooyi, Meryl Streep, Tina Fey, Kerry Washington,Cecile Richards, Connie Britton, Laverne Cox, Jessica Williams, Valerie Jarrett, Tory Burch and other female entertainers, leaders and en-
trepreneurs promoting the
low suit, and use the hashtag #stateofwomen if they post their pledge on social media.
The Summit brings together gender equality advocates to address the ongoing chal- lenges, and hopefully strategies to address them.
