Sons Of Allen Retreat Brings Community Empowerment To The City Of Tampa
On May 16-18, 2019, over 300 men will gather at the Allen Temple African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church in Tampa, 2101 Lowe St., (33605), for the 18th Annual Sons of Allen Retreat. Men from around the state and the Bahamas will join to wor- ship, study the Word of God, and serve the local community.
On Wednesday May 15, local educators at the Fos- ter Elementary School were treated to lunch by the Sons of Allen.
On Thursday at 12 p. m., the Sons of Allen will kick off the weekend with a leadership luncheon with the author of 3 Square Meals: 28 Days of Re- newal, by Reverend Shawn E. E. Thomas. A

local homeless shelter and Bible study while the after- noon will consist of work- shops including “Robotics 101” for young men and “Active Shooter Training” for adults.
On Saturday at 12 p. m., the Sons of Allen will con- clude their retreat with a picnic fellowship at Mac- Farlane Park.
The African Methodist Episcopal Church was for- mally organized by Richard Allen in 1816 and today its mission is to minister to the spiritual, intellectual, physical, emo- tional and environmental needs of all people by spreading Christ’s liberat- ing gospel through word and deed.
The Sons of Allen of the 11th Episcopal District are committed to this mission and have committed them- selves to the work of Jesus Christ as they will continue his work during this re- treat.
