Complete Count Committee To Hold Meeting On 2020 Census
BY IRIS B. HOLTON Sentinel City Editor
On Monday, November 18th, the Complete Count Committee of Hillsborough County will hold a meeting with faith-based organizations. The meeting will be held at Beulah I. B. Church, 1006 W. Cypress, beginning at 6 p.m.
Les Miller, Jr., Chairman of the Com- plete Count Committee of Hillsborough County, said this meeting is vitally important to the community. “We are meeting with the faith-based community to get the message out because it means so much that every person in Hillsborough County is counted in the 2020 Census.
“In our community, where are the majority of the people on Sunday morning, in church. We are hoping to have members of the clergy encourage their parishioners to complete the Census forms.”
Miller further stated that the money for communities is allocated based on the popula- tion. The money given to Hillsborough County will provide more opportunities for roads, housing, education, and economic develop- ment.
This meeting will focus on the churches, however, the Committee plans to include every organization, church, individuals, and others in the community to take an active role in mak- ing sure the citizens are counted in the 2020 Census.
Ms. Bernadine King, Partnership Coor- dinator, Atlanta Regional Census Center said,

“We must get people to understand that the 2020 Census will affect our lives for the next 10 years and will determine what funding comes into our community, based on the pop- ulation. It is very important to educate the community and encourage them to partici- pate.”
The 2020 Census will begin collecting in- formation in April 2020. For the first time, res- idents will be allowed to submit their
information digitally. How- ever, anyone who does not have access to a computer can obtain a paper form.
There will also be individ- uals available who speak sev- eral languages to ensure that language is not a barrier in completing the forms.
